Youth and Young Manhood was a great debut album, think I'll give it a listen now in fact.

Really liked their first 3 albums TBH. Went downhill a bit after that.

I have seen them probably half a dozen times in the flesh since and they have never captured what I knew they were capable of. I think partly, the fame journey has been an uneasy one for them.
    ...

Didn't success go to their heads and they became bonafide alcoholics?
They definitely went downhill for a while.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

A nice cup of coffee or tea when you're parched.

    Yum, yum, slurp, ahhhhh, slurp...

Sure but do you have to be so bloody noisy?
That's true, I will try and be quiet. Sip, sip...

I tried to buy 12 bottles of Chateauneuf Du Pape from Morrisons because there was a pricing mistake on the website. All my friends tried the same but had theirs cancelled.

When I went to pick mine up the lady was very apologetic that 6 of the 12 had been substituted for a much more expensive £12 Bordeaux. I'm amazed that no alarm bells rang for them, the wine I had ordered clearly wasn't meant to be £1.50 and was also well below the minimum alcohol pricing in Scotland...

Anyway, it was three weeks ago and still makes me chuckle to myself

Had a similar experience in Waitrose a few weeks back with a rather nice bottle of whiskey. The poor girl on check out was so stressed about finding someone to go and fetch the bottle to fill the empty box they put on the shelves that she forgot to scan it.

Didn't notice until I got home and saw the notification on my phone.

(don't feel too bad about depriving John Lewis of the measly amount the bottle would've cost them)
    Boo.
Why is that a boo and not the story before? They're both staff errors. In fact the story about buying 12 bottles was premeditated.
I'm not sure the former counts as theft as they were paid for at a price, but knowingly keeping unpaid goods does count as theft. That said, my objection is the shoplifters' justification that it is fine, because it's a big evil corporation.
So you are saying that DDR is a thief?
Yes, but I suspect we all have been at some point in our lives.
I would never stoop to something like that.

But that's the genius. Anyone* can make something taste amazing with 50 poncy flavours and a fancy star. It takes real skill to do it with some basics

We once bought a load of bagged hardwood logs from Aldi because we only needed a few and they were on special offer. Pointed out to the manager that their "special offer" was the same as buying the bags singly so she threw in a couple of bottles of wine. When the girl on the till put the logs through as mashed potato and saving us a further £20 we just chucked the lot in the trolley and scooted back to the car.

Got our come-uppance; the logs were rubbish.

Most firewood in the UK is rubbish and is an utter con. Stuff sold as 'seasoned hardwood' is actually unseasoned softwood. If you can find a reliable supplier who doesn't rip you off, you''ve done well.
Yup. Having spent time in Scandewegia, I can concur. There are 6 or so suppliers locally and I only use 2 and try to get wood well in advance of use.
You don't happen to use South West Firewood by any chance? Looks like a very professional setup but expensive. I need to fill my log store before these twins arrive or we won't have hot water... Luckily I know the guy who runs that place, but tempted just to steal stuff from one of my sites.

Quite a number of places in The Valley have adopted 20mph limits, inc the village I lived in for 2+ decades where the main road is a communter rat run to get to one of the few River crossings. When that came in what really cheered me up while passing through on the way to clients with the old rumblewagon was hitting exactly 20 at the signpost and holding that all the way through the village. With a bunch of tailgaters not at all happy. Whatcha gonna do punk? Even blocked one Wayneker who tried to overtake outside the village school when the kids were arriving. 😊 Little things can make you happy.

Lots of London boroughs have 20mph by default. I think there are three roads in the whole of Richmond that are exceptions.

You'll be happy as the article says that Scotland's next up for a bit of 'nanny state saving us from ourselves' :)

Another reason not to live in London then.

I don't think you should expect London to deliver the ultimate driving experience.

I lived there for a while and it never did. But they really seem to be going out of their way to make things inconvenient and expensive for drivers in the capital these days. Luckily I rarely need to go into the London postcodes by car.

Got no issue with it other than they have done nothing to make the roads in trial areas feel like you should be slower. Even when you are trying to comply it is hard if the road is wide open with standard road markings. I think they're being over-optimistic though if they think it is suddenly going to encourage fat, lazy fekkers to walk and cycle rather than drive.
