I wear Bolle smoke when cycling on sunny days and Bolle clear in low light. Their primary function is to protect my eyes and that is what they are designed to do. Am not interested in fashion.
Job jobbed as one of the MFs used to say.

Bolle used to be the only alternative to Oakley when I started cycling. I also use my Bolle safety glasses on the bike when riding on cloudier days. They don't look any different to cycling specific glasses but at a fraction of the price (or free from a Contractor when I needed some on site in my case). I do still have some Oakleys for sunny days (Christmas present about 15 years ago) but they've got scratched so got bought a new pair of Shimano ones last Christmas.

Gets a bit more complicated if you need prescription glasses.
Unless someone can cheer me up on this subject? 😉

Recently saw some bar tape for sale from an online cycling supply vendor selling for 60.00 USD. While this neither cheers me up nor pisses me off, the idea that there are people out there who believe this to be a must have item is really funny to me.

    BTW, Oakley "Thermonuclear protection".

Really? The lycra fused to my body, the tyres turned to goo, and the paint pealing of the frame, but I'm glad I got to see all that.

Just driven to beach with daughter to walk the dogs.
Driving home in the twilight with some great music, tired dogs and a happy daughter.
One of those atmospheric moments that feels like a movie scene.

After my own 33C strade bianchi, hot and dusty gravelling, popped on a pannier to go back to local shop to stock up on beers and barbie bits for later.. Across the road there's this junkie / alkie / a-hole / whatever effing and jeffing shouting abuse at workmen doing water mains replacement. That didn't cheer me up.

What did was one of this small group of 9-10yo lads asking me politely was that man a friend of mine! When I explained eh no, not one of mine, and likely to be not one of anybody's, he agreed along the lines of indeed, such a shame. Unexpectedly lucid and intelligent chat with one of da kidz. Made me smile. (While I strangled the junkie... or not...😉)

You can camp next to it and have the place to yourself. Also, there is a bit of disagreement about the history with some locals saying they are natural.

I'll see your Spitfire (pah, commonplace) and raise you a Lancaster bomber taking off right over your head while you are just passing by. Remember it vividly and the goosebumps.

Vulcan bomber at Filton is the one I remember.

I was nearby when a Lancaster flew low down The Mall, wow it was loud

Should come live round here. Fairly regular occurrence.

(Duxford is nearby, in case you're wondering)

Oh, of course there was Concordski...

...oh, memorable in a different way.

Not sure what the relevance or not of patriotism is though.

I raise you Harrier for sheer volume.
Lived a couple of miles away from a small aerodrome in Nottingham that had a surprisingly large annual airshow with the likes of Red arrows and Concorde appearing.
Nothing ever came close to the Harrier for insanely loud.
