I purchased pasta this morning. Not enough there to last all day but probably until about lunch time.elbowloh said:

I still can't get pasta for love nor money anywhere nearby and no online delivery slots for 3 weeks minimum. Oh, can't get butter either.ballysmate said:The people who spunked all their money needlessly on pasta and bog roll now facing pasta dishes for breakfast, dinner and tea.
Rice is freely available everywhere though!0 -
Fresh pasta was available in my local store but no 'long life' variety. You can fool some of the people all of the time. Concentrate on those people.0

I'm busy making a pasta picture. Plenty of glue sticks available.0

Yup! Got the call from the garage this afternoon.Pross said:
That's ludicrous.pblakeney said:Off licenses being added to the list of essential shops. 😀😎🥃🍾
BTW have you seen the latest on MOTs? If it's due after 30 March they're extending by 6 months. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
People posting on social media how they are keeping fit at this time.
People who never, ever do exercise normally. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

You either eat a lot of pasta or bought a tiny packet if it will only last until lunchtime.morstar said:

I was trying to panic buy flour in Sainsbury’s yesterday and was squinting at the tiny labels on the ransacked shelves when a kind gent confirmed that was where the flour should be. He then shared his wisdom which was how hungry would you have to be to look around a house empty of food and decide to eat flour0

I see what you did there!surrey_commuter said:

The Repair Shop on BBC. I don't really pay attention to the background stories but as someone who is useless at anything practical I love watching craftspeople at work.0

I've got mine booked in for a service and MOT tomorrow. Given that you'll still get prosecuted if your car is unroadworthy, I couldn't see much point in postponing it. I quite like my car not falling apart, and stopping when I ask it to, when I'm driving it.0 -
Never understood why people wanted a fudged MOT. Surely you want your car to stop or steer in the direction that you want?
Why would people drive a car with a fudged test? After all, people would never buy a car with a fudged test would they?0 -
You are assuming you will have anywhere to drive to. And you won't get prosecuted during the next 6 months. It is incumbent on the owner for it to be roadworthy though.briantrumpet said:pblakeney said:

MOT stations shut down this week so any appointments after that (mine) are cancelled.
My car is hunky dory anyway, just a legal formality. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Maybe they think it's elfin safety gone mad.
Whenever people mention that, I point them in the direction of the statistics of how much deaths and serious injuries in workplace have decreased.0 -
Wouldn't want something to pass that's unsafe. I drive nearly 30k miles a year despite working from home part of the week and commuting by train the other days when I can so make sure my car is properly maintained. I had a bit of a worry a few days ago as my MOT is due in mid May and I thought I'd struggle to do essential journeys if MOT stations were closed and I had to keep my car off the road.ballysmate said:Never understood why people wanted a fudged MOT. It's good. It is remarkable how some completely f***ed bits of furniture can be brought back into something decent without completely losing their character. My only complaint is that it can become a bit twee at times.Pross said:The Repair Shop on BBC. Amazing eh?0 -
On the pasta front: most pasta is manufactured in Italy so obviously there will be some shortages there...
Would also point out, entirely unrelated to corona, there's a virus going around chickens at the moment putting eggs and chicken meat under some pressure; so don't expect to be making tonnes of fresh pasta...0 -
Our Italian friend makes her own pasta and did us one of her lasagnes last week which was amazing as always. She had no problem getting eggs but struggled with flour.0

That makes sense to me, fit it properly and fit it once and apparently we are always inadvertently touching our mouths.briantrumpet said:pblakeney said:I saw someone wearing a facemark today. Not that unusual these days you may think.

Doing a bit of an internet trawl on Jacques Brel, coming across a Nick Cave video performing 'Next' and thinking nah that Is in no way a patch on Alex Harvey's version with his Sensational Alex Harvey Band, seeking it out and reliving happy times. Alex H had a swig out of my litre bottle of Don Cortez plonk during a gig in the Bristo Sq student centre in Embra back in the day. And that gives away my age. So 'kin what.0
