Coronavirus may cause food shortages and civil disobedience. To deal with this the Govt is leaning on it’s contingency planning for a no-deal Brexit.

Not sure how phantom ferries are going to help with toilet roll shortages.

Wipe your arse on useless contracts maybe.

I must get on Amazon quick and buy a few barrels then.

Explaining to my OH that cycling to and from work is a good way to reduce my chances of getting Corona (she's a little bit paranoid about it) - and telling her that the chances of a pedestrian on the pavement infecting me by sneezing in the general direction of the road as I ride past is not high risk :)

Have you tried to explain that riding a bike keeps you fitter so more able to deal with the virus when* you catch it?

    * I say when because I suspect it's likely, we live in a big city with lots of people in close proximity so the chances of coming in to contact with it are more likely than not.

Not yet, I just smiled at her daft theory and said I'd ride in the middle of the road.

Given my rural location, sparse population and no cases reported in my Shire*, I hope I miss it.

    *Yet. Cross fingers.

A bit weird that Devon is one of the worse places so far for it. Happy not to be a public transport user (as I cycle commute), though working in a school is probably less good...

Interesting times. Not cheered up that Italy's so badly affected, given that my French house is only 100 miles from the border, and I'm hoping to go there in a couple of weeks...

Some of our Milan based Italian management thought they were being clever trying to avoid the Lombardy lock down by headed for their summer houses in the Southern half of the country before the 'doors closed'. That didn't work too well.

I was reading that the rumours of of the first lockdown made the lockdown counterproductive: people raced to get out of the region. Hmm, not great when you're trying to contain infection...

In other news, it amused me (if not cheered me up) that my local Co-op was having to limit sales of anti-bacterial soap... you really can't argue with ignorance.

Which is exactly what our escaping Milanese management may have done. We won't be seeing them for a while...

I've cheered myself up by writing some terrible doggerel to fit the tune of Que sera sera...

    Now Covid-19's on the rise
I asked my mother, "What should I do?
Should I buy pasta, or toilet roll,
    Or never have a poo?"

    Que sera, sera
    Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
    Que sera, sera
    What will be, will be.

If anyone can do better (and that wouldn't be hard), that would cheer me up, trivially.

I'm a bit confused about the description of Italy being in lockdown. People are only allowed out for essential reasons which include going to work or grocery shopping and you can still travel to and from the country when it's 'essential'. It doesn't really sound like a lockdown to me!

My guess is that they want a complete lockdown but realise that it is unenforceable.
    And costly.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Rubbish at writing songs, so you could just play the Bee Gees 'Saturday Night Fever' and 'Stayin Alive'....

At night when you turn off all the lights
There's no place that you can hide
No no hysteria is gonna get ya

In bed throw the covers on your head
You pretend like you are dead
But I know it, hysteria is gonna get ya

At this moment, it's ruining everything

It gives a bad chest and it causes distress

Seeing my mum settled in at the care home.

I can't say it was joyous, but it all went okay and it wasn't as traumatic as i expected.
Obviously that wasn't the case for mum, but she put a brave face on it.

The place is nice, they have't said 'no' to anything we've asked (yet), nothing seems too much trouble. I'll get my name down for a room in whatever years time.
