    ^ Was and that's that 'orrible 996.

Nope - there's doubled up spaces where cars aren't backed into a wall but to another parking space and there's oodles of it.
Well, at least in the local Morrisons there is.
    There's no excuse for it.
These are the same fuxxers who reverse out of their driveways and you are not covered by insurance should you have an accident reversing into the road.
    I never let them out.
They park on speed bumps, they park on the zig zag outside schools to drop Sebastian and Penelope off. It's the same bunch of w@nkers. They are the one's who when approaching a T junction and are turning right look initially left and creep out yet the traffic is immediately on their right or worse, they hare up to a junction at silly speed and stop dead and your pedalling along just wondering...
These individuals shouldn't drive a car.

No point in going to the supermarket with it - only room for one bag.

No, my Pinno's a Porcshe driver statement had nothing to do with the reversing discussion. I just find it trivially annoying he drives a Porcshe.

I drive a BMW at the moment so I'm not going to weigh in on that.

Why would you? Especially if you're shopping.

"Oh I know, I'll make the boot really inaccessible."
Because it's easier, but I can see the advantage of an accessible boot.
I don't find reversing in any easier than reversing out and I find driving in forwards as easy as driving out forwards.

Only when you reverse in you give people false hope you're not going into the spot they covet, before the pantomime of reversing into it and then you have to squeeze past the car to get to the boot.

Do you go in forwards to parallel park? As I said, boot accessibility is a good point and maybe you drive a small car with big spaces, but physics says is easier in reverse.

I certainly reverse to parallel park. Have got pretty good at it as I have to do it in very tight spots every time I use my car. I do drive a small car so I certainly have more leeway in parking spots. You just need to get the turning done early on.

I'd add that the proliferation of SUVs I find incredibly annoying but I recon it's moved beyond trivial as it's bad for all sorts of levels.

And occasionally you do get parking spaces with plants right up to the edge of the parking space, and a sign saying " Please do not reverse into this parking space".

Conversely, people who do reverse into echelon parking spaces on one way aisles that have been designed to make it easy to drive in forwards and reverse out.

They have to reverse around an angle well in excess of 90 degrees and then do the same reversing out. It baffles me why anyone would even try.

I too am a BMW driver now.

Longish car = easier to go in nose first and be able to open the boot if the space is against a wall, or be sure nobody blocks your boot access by parking close behind you if not against a wall.

If I reversed into most spaces and left the necessary room at the back, the nose would be sticking out beyond the parking space.

    That reminds me.
Parking spaces obviously designed around car sizes from the 60s.

I am not sure. You have no chance.

People who can't park a car straight. Whether they go in forwards or backwards. How can you walk away when it's blindly obvious?

And people who don't park within the allocated spaces.

Parked next to a car that was at quite an angle with one rear corner encroaching into the space I was using. I was considering leaving my car far enough forward that they wouldn't be able to get out of their space. Didn't as they would probably have just damaged my car and driven off. Thankfully their car was still there when I left so no problem. Had I blocked them in I guarantee they would have blamed me rather than their own shitparking.

I stay clear of cars like that. Especially ones that look like they're used to transport young kids - tend to be bad for the paintwork.

I swear they’re taking the p!ss now. 6 carriages rather than the usual 12.

Are they not happy until most people are standing?

TBF, I chose it when the line was running better.

Like I said, pre rona they always put on 12 carriages and, aside from 2018 which was year of utter disruption when I got 20% of my season ticket returned because of delays (over a grand!), you always had a seat.

Now I'd say 40% of the train has to stand.

    Things change over time.

After 2018 which was a disaster year (new Thameslink great nothern line had mahoosive teething problems). , 2019 was pretty fine. Since rona it's been almost as bad as 2018.

    https://www.greatnorthernrail.com/about-us/how-were-performing/train-service-punctuality-and-reliability

    Check it out.

Yesterday: only 71.6% of my train provider's trains were on time.

    FFS.

Over a 4 month period (each percentage represents a week, and is the percentage of trains that arrive at the destination on time).

    Cambridge
    78.6% 79.8% 77.7% 73.0% 69.3% 68.2% 67.6% 65.2% 65.6% 67.9% 69.4% 67.2% 69.7%

    London King's Cross
    83.8% 87.0% 83.8% 78.6% 74.0% 72.4% 73.8% 70.3% 72.1% 74.0% 75.0% 72.4% 74.6%

What is this, a third world country? Can't even get 3 in 4 trains on time regularly.

I'd like to post this in the Education thread, but I can't find it.

Getting close to that time of year. Results are going to be lower than the two previous years and that is so unfair.

I don't think that you are temperamentally suited to long distance commuting.

As moving closer is probably not an option your best bet will be to try and get some perspective. Maybe in your own mind extend the train journey by 15mins and only see it as late after that.

Then sit and think about that 15 mins, in the vast majority of cases it really is irrelevant.

I mind it if i have to stand.

Like I said, the service was once quite OK. Then they f*cked it in 2018, sorted it out, but they've gone and f*cked it again.
