It seems popular among rugby players, I thought it was to make them look like scary lunatics and freak out the opposition.briantrumpet said:verylonglegs said:I may be late to the party on this as hadn't bought much clothing recently but cycling shorts that nearly go to the knee and short sleeve jerseys that go closer to the elbow than the shoulder. We are not all chasing aero gains/looking like a pro and it would be nice to have decent kit that still has a traditional cut.
Changing fashions are very bemusing sometimes. It seems the mullet is back for (some) teenage boys - I can only assume it's a way of signalling their rebellious streak, but someone ought to tell them it looked really stupid the first time, and still does.0 -

Yes, it's mostly the rugby players at school, but I think it's more likely to cause giggling... well, as far as I'm concerned.

Don't get me wrong... I'd be terrified of some of the school rugby players coming running at me, whatever haircut they were sporting.0

I don't have a problem with current fashions, only when they are imposed on everyone. I browsed the socks section on one cycling retailer and they only had the mid-calf type, several pages worth I think, but nothing like an just above the ankle sock, not a single pair. I had to look at running socks for that. Again....annoying.briantrumpet said:verylonglegs said:I may be late to the party on this as hadn't bought much clothing recently but cycling shorts that nearly go to the knee and short sleeve jerseys that go closer to the elbow than the shoulder. I was being a bit flippant.
Agreed. Fortunately I don't seem to wear out jerseys - I've still got Endura FS260s that are 12 years old and as new, with sensibly short sleeves (though the matching shorts are a little on the silly-short side). As yet I seem to have escaped being corralled into this trend for long socks, sleeves and shorts. It's a bit weird.0 -
Yes. I like boot cut jeans (or at the very least straight cut) but the trend seems to be skinny legged drainpipe, short crotch low on hip, bum crack showing, testicle mangling fit.verylonglegs said:

This trend makes getting my size in boot cut is difficult.

This is a complaint, not a humble brag.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

If you're truly in possession of very long legs wouldn't mid calf on a normal person be just above the ankle to you?verylonglegs said:

Just paid off the OH’s high interest credit card with my everyday credit card then found my usually dependable balance transfer card has had all its balance offers removed despite an email a week ago with a balance transfer offer till the end of June.
Is it just me or are the banks starting to wobble on lending ?0 -

Ah, the luxury of haircuts
You're too young to have experienced the Great Hair Migration - it's just biding its time, waiting to burst forth from ears and nostrils. Then you'll understand why older people want to keep hold of their wealth, for solace for the indignity of old age, and to be able to afford ear hair trimmers0 -

Thank fully, I had too much Chemo for that hair migration malarkey. In fact, I had to much Chemo for hair.briantrumpet said:

Ebayers
put a used, 2 yr old camera up for sale. Winning bid was for nearly 20% more than I could get the thing brand-new, from the manufacturer, with a warranty and accessories.
I have messaged the seller telling them so and asking them not to send payment. Maybe it's a scam, maybe it isn't. FWIW the 'buyer' lives in the kind of place that the member for South Derbyshire would call 'godawful'.0 -

Yeah but a) the parking spots are half on half off and b) every single other car on the road is parked the same - I was actually more considerately parked than most.Pross said:
