Definitely only one Etape du Tour, Annecy on 7th July. Too early to stay over and catch the last few days of the Tour, so no Etape, deck chair on AdH and Annecy and then hot foot up to Paris for the evening finish.

  • My dear old mum would have not been pleased with Froomey and Phil Gil wearing jeans. No sense of the occasion, boys :|
  • No Andy:

    But he was there

He'd only have fallen off the stage. And I'd be surprised if he didn't pull out before the end of the presentation

I get the feeling Mrs Gilbert is in charge of his wardrobe, as Peta is of Cav's...and all 4 of them have some dodgy taste :P

JesusHChrist. One minute a sex god on wheels, the next a ludicrous fright on stage.

So okay, who's the dude next to him? The one on his left.

So, why those guys, particularly? (thinks......) last year's TdF winner and the year before. This year's world champion, last year's world champion, this year's white jersey, this year's vuelta, Froome,

    so

    WHERE IS SAGAN?

    and

    VOECKLER?

    (sorry for shouting)

The last week is pretty tough, Mont Ventoux, an ITT and three alpine stages.

Also I’m surprised the noise is suggesting Wiggins won't defend the title and aim for the Giro instead. After last year I can see him winning on a course like this, there are still 90kms of TTing (albeit 25 of those being TTT) and there aren’t any crazy mountain stages.

Jeremy Whittle in the Times today suggesting that it might be mind games. I'm not so sure. Wiggo's been saying since Aug that his goal had only ever been to win one Tour and hadnt though beyond that, and also that the Giro appeals to him.

I wonder if its outside the realms of possibility of doing a Giro-Vuelta double?

Also maybe him and Froome have a kind of ‘gentleman’s agreement’?

French main TV news were accusing Voeckler of doping in the last tour on the main broadcast yesterday based on "inhuman" power outputs. Maybe Prud'homme decided best not to have him on stage.

It's because there's no cycling on telly...

Besides, I use the Clinton Defence - I have it on but I don't watch it

You mean Wiggo doing a double?

Could be hell of a tall order to contest the Giro win, help your team mate contest the Tour, and then personally contest the Vuelta. Take the middle GT out of the equation, and with a 2.5/3 month gap, who knows? But 9 weeks riding in the front group of all 3 GTs over the course of 5.5 months...eeeeeekkkk....

Besides, I'm afraid that the odds against a clean rider winning the Vuelta are somewhat stacked.

Oh yeah, he is supposed to be helping Froome isn't he, in that case then no!

I've been up the final climb to Semnoz. Assuming its taken from from Annecy, must be 1100m of ascent so not far off 9%?

Stunning views of Mont Blanc in the distance for the last couple of K for Cav to while away the climb.

It's bloody murder, goes on for ever.

Mind you, that was on a Brompton.

Is this reported online anywhere? And is it based on those dodgy calculations that keep getting trotted out?
