Richard Moore loves it...does wonders for promoting 'Slaying the Badger'...

Can you imagine next year's shenanigans...if Froome has so much as an off-day...he'll have been knobbled by Wiggo!

I know Route details won't come out till next year, but anyone care to try and take a guess for Stage 5 (Cagnes-sur-Mer > Marseilles) for me?

I may have an opportunity to be down that area in the Var region... and if I could swing taking the bike...

The best thing I saw on that was a certain member of the Twitter Taliban saying what a horrible doper Wiggo was, not like that lovely Contador...

    Are they freaking serious?!?!?!

  • On paper, it seems a reasonably balanced route.
Clock kms about right, as is the amount of climbing.
My concern is how those mountains are stacked, both in profile within the race.
An uber flat week 2 will make or break this edition. I fear it may well be the latter.
Some of the mountain stages are very short, Ventoux excessively long.

I am pleased to see less of the old faithfuls and more novel ascents.

Going along the lines of froome here - A bit of an anti climax regarding the route. What the **** is it with prudhomme and his downhill finishes esp the Bageres de Bigorre stage (wasted lets keep our GC positions stage) Obviously they didnt learn anything from the Vuelta. we have the usual pish boring 7 straight days of sprints (sleeping pills to the ready) ... We will never see the 2 days of mountain top finishes in the Pyrenees & 3 summit finishes in the Alps or vice versa in the tour again. Looks like another Sky (marginal gains all peaking at the same time) fest again

but Gazzetta, surely the return of 'The King' means that Sky wont win again? Sorry, I get confused.

RR excuse my ignorance but is Sean Kelly getting back in the saddle 8)
Maybe am from the old school of watching Hinault,Fignon tours were you were guaranteed classic mountain stages (yes i know pills were being popped back then too) maybe they could have followed the vuelta's ideas with shorter more compact stages esp the Pyrenees.looking at the 2 stages there it looks really poor for the 100th edition.
  • SK back again..that would be awesome....

Of course people will be asking Wiggo, Froome and Brailsford about next year but there is a whole winter of training ahead. Any talk now of who is doing what is just that - talk.

All this talk of Wiggo for Giro and Froome for the Tour could all be just gamesmanship for all we know. It will I'm sure all come down to the numbers/stats in training as to who leads where and when.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Yes damn them and their "let's peak at the right time" malarky.

If the organisers are wanting a "spectacular" Alpe d Huez stage then i hope they are going to barrier off more than the usual last 2kms - All day pissheads "look at me am on tv" morons running alongside preventing anyone attacking. Beginning to think that the ASO think that there is only one mountain in the Alps now.

Yeah, but that was different. That was when doping was still quaint, if a bit cheeky - like a 10 year old lad smoking at the village fete.

Stupid Telegraph today in the printed paper had them going up Mont Ventoux three times.

I'm just a keen fan, and even I had to  at that. I don't believe it. Nope, just do not believe it.

How can a sub on a sports desk let that one through to print, eh?

    Contador is the Greatest
  • What the hell Prudhomme is thinking having Contador on that stage, I have no idea. Busted during the 2010 Tour FFS.

Every race organiser wants him. Everyone. They are not stupid - they are there to make money, and they know that Contador will make them make more money.

When Prudhomme starts with talking about doping for the first 5-10 minutes of the presentation, it doesnt sit well at all.

A lot can happen between now and July, but yeah, blah blah blah

So can anyone recommend a good campsite near Annecy, needs to be child friendly.

there are loads round there, just avoid the ones where brits get gunned down in a hail of automatic gunfire
