I was riding along today and another cyclist passing the other way actually ignored me when i waved at them. I thought maybe they didn't see me, but it's hard to miss my World Champ Jersey.

Tw*t.

Anyway, can anyone recommend me a puncture proof tyre?

Could they have been in a TT or "doing a Strava"? They seem to be seen as acceptable excuses these days

Can't help with a puncture proof tyre, but does a 188bpm MHR sound about right? Is 53:15 a good gear to be in?

I'm going to my first club ride this Sunday. Is it alright to go in full Sky kit?

I've got all these little cogs at the back where the chain goes round the back wheel, what do I need them for ? I 'ave been cycling now for 43 years and I always go red in the face and my head bobs up and down whilst I turn the pedals round. I always grunt every time I push the pedal down and my knuckles go white and I have just had my 6th prolapse whilst bike riding but it hasnt stopped me. I thinks you youngsters pedalling like your 4rse is on fire are like a bunch of cupcakes... cont p94

There is no such thing as a puncture proof tire, it's the inner tube that you need to look at, I use carbon reinforced ultralights.

What I need help with is what kit to buy for the winter. I've got £5.52 to spend and I cycle on a bike.

Also what lights do you use? So far I've got the head lamp cluster off a BMW 3 series mounted on the bars run from a AAA battery, do you think that will be effective for the type of cycling what I do?

This is what you need, don't bother with those battery things - they're a nonsense

So there i was tightening my saddle up. About 5 minutes into the tightening operation my seatpost snapped clean in two. How do I claim on the warranty for this obvious manufacturing fault?
  • There seem to be a lot of bikes around with faulty handlebars. They bend down, making you lean dangerously forward. How can that be right?

And while I'm on the subject, my back brake doesn't work. It stops the wheel, but not the bike. What's the point of that? Yesterday I left it on for several minutes going down a hill, and all of a sudden there was a scraping noise followed by a big bang from the back. When I looked, the tyre was gone. I seem to be having a lot of bad luck with faulty components at the moment.

My dad was a sheet metal worker and my mum is allergic to raspberries, will I benefit from carbon forks?

I've been told that I have to take my fully fitted chromothermicplastic type mudguards off whenever I ride my bike on dry days, when I went to my LBS to ask how to remove them they just laughed at me.

I'm sick and tired of these so called 'expert' local shops clearly having no knowledge of their so called specialist jobs. How do they survive?

I don't understand the confusion there, they are entirely different.

It looks a little damp outside, does that mean my Carbon forks will melt? Do I have to buy a Mtb with nobblies as a winter bike? Also, I was trying for a KOM on Strava, the tailwind I was using to help me suddenly became a headwind and I didnt get the KOM. Can I call Strava and explain this as I'm sure I would have got the KOM?

  • Gizmodo - many thanks, that's about the only thing I have plenty of!! perhaps I'll just open a bottle, normally the best answer to most things....
  • I have the latest carbon bottle cages, titanium screws, & just bought a pair of carbon bars which are 50g lighter than my last ones, but i'm still not going any faster! What gives? I might just try another type of carb gel & energy bar, that should work.
