Movistar drilling it on the uphill. Peloton in pieces. Some sprinters will be struggling.

That looks like Viviani in group 2. Swift and Bennati in group 1. Haven't seen Degenkolb.

but did Swifty have some kind of problem (apart from the legs, I mean)? something red on the road, he looked back at it, drifted back and looked down at the bike again?

Yeah, not sure what it was. Looked like something from the fence or the crowd maybe.

On replay it looks like just a trick of the camera.

7-10 were Bakelants, Swift, Nocentini and Henao.

Contador lost 3 secs, plus presumably a time bonus to Valverde.

Don't think it's been made any easier - both Ballan and valve.piti in good shape too.)

I cycled home from work, assuming this would have been long over, then after I'd been home for a while I glanced at Twitter to see an update from Sky saying they were in the last 1.5km. Legged it down to the TV and I'd missed the finish by 26 seconds. Balls :(

Seen the replay though - perfect timing from Phil Gil. Would love to see him win the rainbow bands and then have a cracking year next year. Another WC at BMC would be about right. At one point I was starting to think the rainbow bands on the jersey cuffs were just part of the design.

DEFINITELY need him in WC stripes next year. Would be great for the photo collection assuming he can notch up some wins.

Odd that he is often good at the end of the season though...
