It's a rigid 29er with carbon forks.
Let the pi** taking ensue.

    Only if it had gears.

Oh yeah, also, obligatory these days it seems..
What should I upgrade first, considering you "people" don't even know what it is yet.
I'm going to need tyres that are good for everything from competing in the Red Bull Rampage, to sailing, to landing on Mars.

You should fit right in the Commuting Chat. Plenty of walkers there.

i think you should upgrade the frame and forks first, along with the rest of the bike. Why wait to ride it eh?

Don't forget bib shorts are better for the gentleman who likes full English breakfasts and beer.

That saddle is just perfect for skidmarks on naked night rides.

You did leak it on FB so we've had time to adjust, unfortunately.

I quite like it. I haven't ridden a road bike in anger in many many years, and I am stunned at how fast it is. Crusing at 20+mph seems very achievable

Straps should only ever be on a track bike and loose that ridiculous piece of plastic that tells everyone that you can't index gears properly.

Once these two ponts are covered then you will achieve faggot status.

i got mine so i can keep up with my mates who have them... thought a 29er would be do-able for that but the gearing is off for decent road speeds. i chucked some pedals on mine last night and got a bit of a shock with how easy they are to accelerate after having to haul big bike up to speed for ages.

the only concern now is that i will ket knocked off at a higher speed now.... seems that i am a magnet for people pulling out of junctions when im barreling down the road.... im not a small guy either.... so a couple of pebbles in the pocket are a must...a little window noise usually lets them know im annoyed at the stupid move they have just pulled...and the gesturing and salty language i suppose....

I'm really not sure what to do about pedals. I've mentioned on Facebook that my physio warned me off spuds because of the weird angle of my knee now, she was convinced I couldn't get the right angle, without catching my heel, since spuds are generally quite narrow. Also, the float could potentially cause problems.
Besides, it's going to be used to get to work and back, and I haven't got a spare pair of shoes to leave there, or any more room to carry a second pair.
This is all confounded by the fact that when I did rife spuds on the MTB for years, I eventually conceeded that they offered very little benefit.
I'm going to keep the straps for a week or so to see how I get on, but I have a feeling I may need a wide pedal like on the MTB because of the wonkyness of the knee - and El Cap approves of sticking B-54s on it.
And, well, he's El Cap, no arguing with him.

Pie dish will be coming off today, I just want to ride properly first to make sure the indexing is bang on. Those aero spokes look like they'd lose an argument with an errant chain, and I didn't index them myself.
  • Spuds ruined my knees (about 2 days before the End2End challenge 3 years ago! ) but I find that on the road it doesn't give me any grief. I think it's because you don't move around as much. On the trail, your foot moves to get better grip and over bumps, but on the road, it's just about power for speed.

However, if El Cap says B-54's are ok, then I am not one to argue with him!
It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.
