    Evening Fellas.

Sufferfest's Angels tonight. All in the big ring.
Though I have to admit to a lack of moral fibre, and turned the middle 4minutes of the last interval down to 90%. Put it back up for the final lump and the huge effort at the end. I really wish I'd just stuck it out now, I mean...4 minutes!

Big power drop off when I tried to move the pointer!

I think my version of trainerroad is broken - during the 20 minutes intervals in Gray the timer slows to an absolute crawl

    anyone else experienced this?

I'd synch up just to be sure all your workouts are safe, then uninstall and put the newest version backon assuming your laptop has no other issues

I've never had an issue with the applet in the 6 months have been using TR.

Just did Baxter, did it fixed gear, found it pretty easy tbh, although did sweat a lot so hopefully its doing good! Went all out in higher gear for final 1 minute to keep it interesting.

1hr30 on the turbo does make my backside go to sleep though, even with my shiny new bibs :)
  • I've cleared the shed
    I've installed the electrics
I've plugged in the ANT+ stick to the laptop
    I've set up the turbo
    I've got the Pifco fan
    I've downloaded roadtrainer software
I've just realised I don't have enough sockets, doh!
I've got to go to B&Q in the morning!

Had a fairly meteoric rise since joining on 1st Dec when net power was around 210w. Lance, is that you? :D

Lamarck is a bit shock to the system!

    http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/rides/164999?best=1066820

After Base I, mainly in the sweet spot, to go to10 min threshold intervals (at a higher FTP) with only 2 min rests.........it's no easy introduction to Base II.

His last 8 minute test is crazy - http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/rides/159208

Nearly 600 Watts for 8 min with a heart rate of 132 - I hit that pulling up my bib shorts ;)

It is virtual power though - maybe his turbo is broken lol
  • Help me out here. Very frustrated. I've set my turbo to the correct setting, paired my HR and cadence / speed sensor, and opened up a plan, but whilst riding all I see is two silly little graphs either side of target power, next power, interval time, total time and HR. When I pedal a red line follows the green line, but it is so small I cannot see it. I cannot see the instant feedback as shown on the website showing when I am in the correct power zone.

A bit disappointed so far. :(

The bar under the Power readout goes green and bright green when you hit the number as you pedal.
Thats all you need to do.
Training this way is obviously not to everyones taste, but I have found it an invaluable aid to maintaining a training and riding consistency.
Maybe try it with a drop in Sufferfest or Spinerval (bit more expensive) video

I don't have a bar of any sort, but what I have found is the speed sensor is not transmitting. Little red light comes on, but nada on my Garmin or on Trainerroad, so off to LBS for a new sensor.

  • Has anyone here used the workout creator ? In particular, i'm interested in importing an existing free-ride (or possibly a workout) to use as a template.

    Hello Peeps,
Looking for a bit of advice, I'm a week from finishing a cardio/interval plan(Insanity-not related to cycling). When done I want to start using Trainer Road as like to work to plan for motivation reasons.

Has anyone any experience of using Virtual power with a Cyclops classic mag trainer(I noticed its still in beta phase), or would I be better off buying the PowerCal? or a new trainer?

I think Im going to stick with what I have for the time being but I another question, Im starting inter base 1 next week as its set out so doing the 8 minute test on tuesday but as I've got free day tomorrow i was going to give the 20 minute test a crack, is it worth doing both?

Preference really, but I always go with the 20 minute test myself. I know the multiple is adjusted accordingly, but I always think it's easier to get a 'false' reading over 8 minutes as oppose to 20, as your pacing and endurance isn't as crucial across the shorter time measurement.

Hard work but I see now why people rate Sufferfest so highly, fantastically cheesy good fun !

One bit of weirdness I had was that the video and power graph seemed just a wee bit off, no more than a few seconds. I paused the workout before the warm-up by getting off the bike to turn the fan on, have pause on pedal still on, wonder if that had anything to do with it ?

(Second pause, slap bang in the middle of the last climb, was due to the screen saver kicking in due to idiot here not turning it off - great timing... Still, probably broke my record for dismounting and remounting the bike)

Time for a cold beer I think.

Just finished week 5 of the Base 1 plan, really enjoyed it so decided to do it again as it's taken me a while to get this far what with working away, being ill and xmas etc. I think it was the best week so far and it looking back even just a week ago at the same rides, I managed to improve a fair bit for same amount of perceived effort

    Carillon from last Sunday

Think as I've got time I will do both, should at least give me a decent comparison!

I downloaded Angels, Downward Spiral, and Long Scream yesterday - will try Angels later, although I feel slightly pathetic today so it may well kill me :)

I have this week off to start digging a big training load hole again, especially with the Sufferfest tour starting soon.
Keeping good tabs on food and drink intake I have managed a sustained 5 lbs drop in weight since 3rd Jan.
A pound lower today, all this without starvation tactics but a lot of 'focus' and keeping everything tabbed on my training log.
Will be trying for a TSS daily score of over a 100 which for me is the tipping point for an increase in fitness or form whatever people like to call it.
Was keeping up well this morning

  • Does anyone have trouble getting TR to work with a movie in fullscreen on a mac?

I tried to watch an MTB video this morning when I was doing a TR session. The video was playing through iTunes but i couldn't get TR to stay on top of it. I had clicked the icon to keep TR at the front but every time I started to play the video, it played fullscreen but switched off TR.
I'm using it on a MacBook Pro which is connected to an external TV screen. I also tried to have the video playing on the TV with TR running on the MacBook display separately but this didn't work either.

    Just done Palisade.

    http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/rides/167306

Finding everything tough since my FTP was upped. On the last over of the final set, the wife & child decided it would be "funny " to open the garage door and throw a snowball at my backside. Haven't stopped laughing since I got back from the computer repair shop.

If you hit Palisade through following the Base II plan then wait until you get to 'The Thumb', after following Base I and now progressing through Base II this is the hardest workout I've done on trainerroad so far.

I would have happily accepted a snowball to the laptop as an excuse to dodge the latter intervals.

Hehehe, did The Thumb yesterday. Couldn't feel my legs for about 30 seconds after the last interval!

Mind you, if you think that's bad, wait until Powell rolls around!

Yes - that looks tough. Those 3 minutes are just going to stretch on forever. Hopefully my legs will be more attuned to the extra workload by then. Part of the problem today was upping the cadence for the overs but staying in the same gear as for the unders. Seem to be stressing legs and heart. Last couple of sets were done in a higher gear for the overs and this seemed more manageable. Or I might just miss out Thumb........ 8)

Seems that Angels's was rather popular today...
    http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/rides/167753

Shakey start though, headphones kept falling off! then i dropped my chain twice moving onto the big ring but managed to eventually get going

It would be great if you could link a video to a workout so that whenever you did the workout again the video automatically started.A bit more integration would save this klutz much setting up time :)

Just scrolling through and seeing the amount of people that have failed to complete Powell says something, the comments are amusing too, determined to complete this one though.

Bah! In any case, that's a full three weeks away, I had better start carb loading now.

Anyone know where I can score some EPO?

Just finished my 20 minute test, felt like I left a little to much in the tank for the first half and tried to compensate in the second half. Not sure if that will have a massive effect on the test, but will see if the 8 minute test on tuesday gets me similar results.

FTP is now 290 and LTHR is 136

    http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/rides/168062

If any of you more experienced guys could have a look and tell me if looks ok?
