I used to live in KL and I can't imagine how miserable it must be climbing mountains in that heat. Pa now lives in Borneo and rides around there. It must be horrendous!

    Love the venge.

Cool! Did u try riding Genting, Frasers, Camerons n Broga when u were in Malaysia? All killer rides but feels so awesome when u reach the top n get rewarded with nice, cool, fresh mountain air instead of the soot in KL city. Haha

oh of course! Have been up to one of them (butterflies and strawberries everywhere) and of course it was much cooler. Had totally forgotten!

I was only there during school holidays but my brother and sister were out there full time so definitely went to the other spots.

As for my cycling, I barely managed to get a pedal stroke in before I died a death it was so hot.....

I have major bike envy going on right now! Awesome! How do you like the zipp vuka sprint bars? Really fancy getting some, would just like some reassurance they're worth it!

Been really busy transferring the SRAM Red over to my Roubaix n installing Dura Ace Di2 on the Venge. Will update with pics soon.

Jack93, get the Zipp Vuka. They are AWESOME! Feels so nice when riding on the tops coz it's wide n flat. Much more support for the hands. It's not just about the aero.

    a) I LOVE the look of these two bikes, they are utterly beautiful! Love the stealth look on both!

    b) I like the references to two of the coolest aircraft ever flown! My friend relates his Cervelo P5 to an SR72 Blackbird.

    c) The builds on both bikes are awesome (how on earth do you decide which to go out on).

    d) How do you like the Zipp Vuka bars? I'm thinking of a pair myself.

Have fun on those two machines!

I decide based on the type of ride I'm going on. The Venge is for fast flat roads. The Roubaix is for mountain rides. Problem is.......I've now built both up to such high specs that I don't have a cheap rainy weather, daily use bike anymore. So I built myself a new Van Nicholas titanium bike just for that. Hehe.

The Zipp Vuka bars r fantastic. The tops feel great as it's not only aerodynamic, it's a really big platform to rest my palms on when riding on the tops. Much more comfy than skinny lil bars.

Here's the new set up on my Venge. Shimano Dura Ace Di2 and TRP 970SL Magnesium brakes. Di2 shifts like a dream. Never imagined it would be so effortless, smooth n efficient. The other benefit of Di2 is that the front is a lot more aero now without the messy derailleur cables screwing up the airflow. The shifters feel fantastic in the hands, very comfy and ergonomic. The TRP brakes r fantastic too. Superb feel and braking.

Here's the Roubaix with full SRAM Red and Lightweight wheels. My target was to bring it down to 6kg and the target has been achieved. Bike feels like it's floating on air now. Should be able to go sub 6kg with a few more lightweight parts but I'm happy with the way it is right now. I might just chop the seatpost down just to get it down to 5.9999999kg. Haha

The problem I have now is that I don't have a rainy weather bike anymore. So I built a new Van Nicholas Ti bike for that. Haha

Disaster struck while I was out riding the B2 Bomber today. Caught some anti aircraft flak due to the infamous RED front derailleur dropping the chain. It tore through my chain catcher n ripped the aluminium chainstay protection plate right off! I hate to think what whould have happened on a frame without the plate.

Here's the aftermath- All I'm left with is the white double sided foam tape on the chainstay.

I went to the only Specialized Store in Malaysia looking for a replacement and they said the aluminium plate is not available as a spare part. So............... I decided to make one myself and I'll make one that looks even better than the stock silver colored plate.

So I started out with some masking tape and a Sharpie pen to mark out the dimensions of the plate.
    2012-08-06233450.png

Stuck it on a flat sheet of black anodized n brushed aluminium plate.

A wee bit of jigsaw lovin

After lotsa filing, shaping, bending, curving, sanding...... here's the end product which IMHO looks even better than the ugly, shiny, silver colored plate that comes from the factory.

All I need to do now is put on some double sided tape, stick the new plate on and off I go on more bombing runs.

Very impressive! Good job for coming up with that solution. One question though . . . where did the plate that was originally on it go? Couldn't you just glue that one back on?

The chain ripped it off. All I heard was a clink clink clink sound and off it went into the bushes. It's probably all bent out of shape anyway. And it's not black. LoL

Been suffering with the horrible shifting of old RED for the past year and after it's soul destroying, bike destructing, wallet crunching, chain grinding, rubbing n chain drop a few days back, I will finally be out of misery with the new 2012 SRAM Red in hand.

I also do not like Specialized but for sure you have build up two great bikes over there.
Attention to detail and favoring the stealth look pays utmost attention to them.

Do not agree on Sram Red FD reviews.
I have the Red/Black group on my bike and was anxious because of the horrible reviews with the Sram FD.
I have blacked out my FD with now a totaly black cage and after some installments I must say that it shifts PERFECT in combination with my Cdale SL cranks and would put in on a par with the DA 7900 front shifting on my other bike.

The only very minor complaint with Sram Red would be the slightly more mechanical noise of the drivetrain compared with Shimano DA.

firstly lovely bikes, and nice detail.

secondly i am sick of reading negative posts about peoples descriptions/questions ,this is a forum were most people browse because they are interested not just in the beauty of road cycling but the bikes and tech they ride .this guy has the money let him buy and build what he wants, most cyclist i know, and its alot ,would not make negative comment at each others kit or knowledge after all no one knows everything ,but if you read this forum you would think they did . read one post were someone said they were not interested in showing there bikes or others, then dont post negative thoughts if not ,and why are you looking at peoples bikes if you feel that way.

too many head spacers - etc ,etc when did we all become that bitter

great bikes, look fantastic and i bet they make you feel good, i would on them as would 99% of the road cycling community.
