That bad lol.... Hes had more tyres than me so need opinions here, what about yourself do you do much roadin ?0
-
Nah, his tyres are 2.5 rubber queens.
Mine are Conti Mountain King 2.2's running tubeless.
Dan says his are really good on the road there is a quite tight knit central bead on his so they look like they would be good....whereas mine are rubbish on road.
If your doing primarily road riding why don't you look into something like the Schwalbe cityjet - i had them on a previous MTB in size 1.25 and it makes a massive difference.0 -
Iv thought about cityjets but am prepared to scarifice the road ridin as il be off road from tym to time aswel dont know if id go 2.5 tho maybe settle for little smaller ... Is Dan running tubes ?0
-
Yeah Dan runs tubes.
I don't think you need any bigger than 2.2 really unless you're doing the serious stuff.....especially if your using on road too.0 -
Mine are either 2.4 or 2.5 I can't remember off the top of my head. They roll better than my Maxxis High Rollers which are 2.35 but are considerably smaller than the Rubber Queens.
They are heavy though...
I'd give the Rubber Queens a try in 2.2 kinda size, They seem to be a good compromise. Have a look on Ribbles website for them, Good prices if I remember correctly.0 -
Cheers dan... gona get a set ordered up soon0

Bit of an update today, Received XT front and rear mechs, Shifters and cassette bought from the classifieds. Super chuffed with them! Feels like a complete different bike! Even more chuffed because it's the first time I've fitted gears before and all seems well!
Also recently bought a new handle bar, An Answer Pro Taper 720 AM and a 70mm KCNC Bear Arm stem.
Here's a 'workshop' picture lol.
New front mech.
Rear mech and cassette.
Shifter.
Had a bit of a niggle which was my own fault, The front mech clamping area was bang in line with my lower bottle cage bolt, Good job I don't use it lol. Can just about see in this picture.
Really happy with how everything is feeling, Just a few more changes. Gonna swap over the tractor tyres for some On-One Smorgasbord tyres and maybe a Chunky Monkey up front to help with the type of mud I'm normally riding in.
Now my only problem is weather I sell the rest of my spares or but a frame and fork and build a winter bike... Hmmmm... Cheers for looking guys.0 -
Lookin well Dan cant be much left to change now..0
-
Just thought I'd let everyone know I was bored after work and decided to spray my rear mech hanger/drop-out's, My inner cage of rear mech and the stem clamp a nice matt black! Look's lots better now.
Before
After
Can't really see much but you get the idea lol.0 -
Been for a ride today, I bloody love finishing work at 1PM on Fridays
Here's how the bike is looking now.
And some pics of where I was riding.
Last 2 are a bit blurry but yeah, I slipped on a rock whilst crossing the stream and ended up with a wet foot, Oops lol0 -
Looks really good! What's the rear light you're using? And more importantly ... how bright is it and does it work?!0

Lezyne Femto, I've rode in some fairly heavy rain and on some rough terrain and all is still well, It's a well built light.
It's not the brightest of lights out there but it's definitely bright enough.
I have a Blackburn Mar's 3.0 as well but it's still brand new in the packaging.0 -
I like the idea of leaving a small light on the bike for those 'just in case' rides! Tried one of the Planet X/On-one lights, and the waterproofing was shockingly bad! I'm using a beefy looking Smart light at the moment.0
-
I just put it on as a 'fit and forget' kinda thing, I clean my frame with a hose pipe/pressure washer and I've never had any issues with the light, It's worth a buy!0

I'm not sure if they are to be honest I haven't worked there for a year now, it's always asking though, you'd be amazed what stores have lying around0
