MySQL as the dbase for this?? Are they MAD?
Using a php script to create a new database connection on each page request is madness though.0 -
Do you think If I offered to replace the site for them they'd give me free entry? :roll:Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

It seems to be (I have a previous registration that I didn't use last year) that if you did it last year the option doesn't come up, but for the one that I didn't use it does come up. Maybe some glitch in the system.
Sorry, I didnt read the initial post properly. I didn't do it last year but brought up my details from the previous year so I think you are right. My friend who did it last year is not getting the option of selecting the GranFondo when logging in using his DOB etc0 -
Im in - how the fark did that happen?!? :?

Can someone please post a link to the list of entrants...i cant seem to find this today. I entered last night and got an email saying payment had been taken but when I looked at the list a few times last night my name was never there....no idea if I am in or not.....even paid for flights so just a wee bit concerned
This is a shambles and I will be really pissed off if a) I am not entered and b)if I am entered that the rest of the organisation is like this0 -

If anyone hasn't got in there's a few of us doing http://www.lapyreneenne.a3w.fr/ as an alternative. Similar time of year, similar challenging course - OK maybe not the same numbers as the Marmotte but hopefully the chance to ride some different mountains will make up for that. The way the Marmotte and one or two other of the big events are going there is definitely enough demand for some of these other sportives to grow significantly if they want to.

I give up....no name on list ...tried phoning them and asked to call later. Off on holiday tomorrow so will just have to write off the money they took and my flights
Tried looking at the list loads of times and I still do not appear there despite it getting longer and longer...what a shambles of an event!!0 -
oh dear against my better judgement I entered again...once again my payment has gone through and once again I am still not on the list......so paid twice and still not sure if in
has anyone else had this problem or I am doing it all incorrectly?0 -
would be a bit patient, I am sure you ll get there, if you have 2 entries you can sell one, so no money lost
worst worst case from what I heard they sell entries the day before as well....or you just join the race 2-3km after the start if you didn't get an entry0 -
For information, there are still thousands of Marmotte places open. The organisers also hold places back right up to the event, just in case there is a problem (e.g. payment taken but number not assigned). The places they hold back include first (401-2000) and second (2001-4000) wave places. Entering the "Grand Trophy" also gives you a Marmotte place, and there are usually still places for this right up to April/May time.0

After making my poor mum try and sign me up all day because I was away i'm now trying to sign up!
No luck. Get through to the payment screen and then the details are somebody completely different! Or even a few people! I'll try again later but just seems quite annoying to say the least! :roll:0 -
I just entered online without any issues. My details were already there from a previous year. My payment went through fine and I am on the list. I used the Chrome browser, maybe that made a difference?0
-
I paid last night at 12.30 for me and then after registered a friend, but not on list. hopefully things will get sorted when the initial flurry calms down. Dont think Ill be brave enough to pay twice!0
-
Finally! Just my name on the summary page, payment went through, and have an email conformation!0
-
Don't want to, don't need to, but have signed up anyway :roll:0
-
Eventually got in had to enter twice before appearing on the list this is my 4th time and it is the worst it has ever been to get an entry .Hopefully wil get a fred whitton entry next (fingerscrossed)0

I have ridden La Marmotte a few times but am not entering this year etc... Anyway when bored at work on Friday afternoon I went on the Sport Communication website and out of curiosity i went through the dummy process of entering La Marmotte. They had my details from previous years and i sailed through the application and not at any point did it flash up that entries were not yet being taken etc.. I went all the way through until it came to the "pay now" button whereby i stopped the process. Was a bit shocked as entries didn't open until midnight ? Checked back a few hours later on Friday evening and you couldn't access the entry process at all... (there was just the countdown clock)... It may well have thrown me out at the "pay now" stage although surely it should not have let me get to that stage... For next year maybe something to try / bear in mind... nothing to lose..!!0

I'm in. Just got to worry about how the hell I get there and where to stay now. :?0
-
Doctors note (rip off) or BCF membership ?0

-
I used by British Cycling racing licence last time0
-
Just get the most basic BC membership, the provisional racing license they give you is fine to use0

I think that the list of entrants may be a little slow in being updated. I have had my payment taken and the subsequent payment confirmation email sent to me but I am not on the list. However, if I type my name in to the "verify registration" boxes at the bottom of the registrations page and click search I have all of the confirmation documents to say that I have been accepted and have entered.
I would say perhaps try this if you aren't yet appearing on the list before trying to enter for a second time.0 -
Yes happened to me last year - got an email confirmation (can't remember if it was of payment or being accepted) but it took some time for my name to get added the list. I'd say if your payment went out then no worries.

If anyone is looking for accommodation this one was available last night - the guy phoned me after my enquiry. We managed to get an Apmt in Alpe D'Huez after firing off 8 enquiries yesterday am.

If you fancy staying a little bit out of the way, but not too far from Boug, the Belledonne campsite is well worth a look http://www.rcn-campings.fr/rcn-belledonne?steID=47&catID=4369.
I stayed there last year and found it peaceful, clean and perfectly suited for exploring the wider area.0
