Did the yellow jersey get through the level crossing with nearly everyone else stuck behind?

The remainder of the peloton were held up for almost two minutes, lot of ground that is.

Lots of chatting with what looks like the commisars.

Related to the level crossing incident?

Going to be a pretty rapid pace in the peloton. 8mins down after that debacle.

So who missed the split then?

More importantly, is Sagan in there?

I thought the rule was that they slow things down to bring gaps back as they were if there's a level crossing closure?

The level crossing incident only cost 2 mins - there was much fannying around by the bunch before and since, so its unfair to blame the crossing.

Costa and about 4 other Movistar riders along with a few other beat the barrier but I guess they decided it was unfair to press home their two-minute bonus.

Ticker says 'they passed in irregular conditions' so guessing they were told to stopped.

30km to go, gap of 6mins to Morkov (SAX), Bonnafond (ALM) and Vangenechten (LTB)

Just watch a level crossing barrier come down in the middle of the peloton, rides dodging through from the front of the group. I think they slowed down the front of the peloton to bring it back together, but the breakaway wasn't slowed.

    Unusual scenario though.

They should have more level crossings in the Tour to liven things up. Different teams would use different tactics.

FdJ and Vacansoleil would get in breaks to try to get an advantage
Garmin would analyze the train timetables and program them into a computer.
Sky and BMC would buy the French Railway system.

psst you might just want to change the thread title to 'Spoiler -Tour de Suisse.'

Its just a common curtesy incase any one wants to watch it later and its not spoiled for them.

Wooooooo! I couldn't make out the Movistar rider on the rubbish feed I had.

So many fails on this stage. Anton - one hit drug fueled wonder. A rider like Frank should have held a good gap on those guys.

Frank tried, just the sort of long distance attack you always go on about, but ultimately his legs went (which is why riders rarely attack like that). I'd hardly call that a fail, second on the stage and second on GC! Anton seems passed it, I still make the mistake of picking him for PTP for some reason.

Not a fail by Frank even if I would have expected a climber of his calibre to hold out:
Good on Frank. Without him it would have been very poor.

I also had this photo lined up if he won ; )

Now I may be completely mad, but did anyone else notice Frank appeared to have no rear brake on this stage?

I nearly rang Pat, but then he got caught anyway.

Wow. I'm impressed. Would be even more so if they got rid of the mouldings on the seatstays.

Why are Sky doing so much chasing? Do they think Swift is going to win a sprint?

AFAIK, the "moulding" actually contains the ANT+ sensor & transmitter for speed and cadence.

Leakygas would just get Sagan to bunny-hop the train.

He's beaten Sagan before, at the Tour of Californa last year. Though I grant you that with Sagan's current form it would be a surprise if it happened again.

They got to work hard. 11km and 1.30 to the two out front.

    Sky always chase.
However, just a place for Swift is useful. As we know from last year, the GB Worlds team is limited by the number of riders with WT points (currently just 4)

Yeah but last season we had the favourite to win the Worlds, I can't see any British rider winning this year!
