As far as I am aware, the course is exactly the same as last year.

    2011:
    1 Fabian CANCELLARA Team Leopard-Trek 09:42
    2 Tejay VAN GARDEREN HTC - Highroad + 00:09
    3 Peter SAGAN Liquigas-Cannondale + 00:17
4 Gustav LARSSON Saxo Bank SunGard + 00:17
    5 Andreas KLÖDEN Team RadioShack + 00:18

    2012:
    1 Peter SAGAN Liquigas-Cannondale 00:09:43.750
    2 Fabian CANCELLARA RadioShack-Nissan 0:00:04
    3 Moreno MOSER Liquigas-Cannondale 0:00:07
    4 Martin ELMIGER AG2R La mondiale 0:00:11
5 Fredrik KESSIAKOFF Astana Pro Team 0:00:15

What a freak of nature. Can you imagine what he'd do with a decent TT position? His upper body was rocking all over the place.

I'm always amazed at the lack of cynicism he attracts! Must be the closest rider there's been to the old style champions for a good few years but does he need to specialise to get the big wins in this day and age?

The lack of cynicism might be because there hasn't been a big jump in performance. He was ridiculously good from day 1. The first ever race of his career and he was mixing it up with Cadel Evans, Valverde and LL Sanchez:

Indeed. After that stage, there were many asking 'who the hell is this kid', which Google answered 'someone a little bit special'. I then boldly predicted that he would one day win the the Tour de France - I think that may have been a touch hasty.

He still looks like the youths who hang about outside my local chippy, so must be viewed with suspicion.

How does a team like Spidertech get invited to a race like this? They didn't exactly make much of an impression in California.
Maybe because the manager is Steve Bauer, the only Canadian to ever win a stage or land a final GC podium place (2nd in 1988) in the Tour of Swizerland, and he had a word with Beat Zberg, the race director.

Other vaguer less likely reasons, as well as the SpiderTech successes (8 wins in UCI races), include because team member Vandborg finished a respectable 26th in the year (2009) he helped his then-team colleague, Kreuziger, win, or because the team includes an upcoming swiss rider, Künzli.
Whoever this commentator is...just called Movistar: Movie-star
Well how else do you say the team name? That’s how I know it.

Now you know why Baden Cooke said Sagan was ”freakishly talented“.

Or you can just watch one of their own adverts. "Movie Star" seems to be correct - see the last couple of seconds of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_Se2STTeXw
But maybe it's pronounced differently in different countries.

It was the same course as last year, and also of the year before. When the town of Lugano negotiated taking the prologue in 2010, they arranged to get it for 3 years. Next year the Tour should start somewhere else.

Despite not winning, Cancellara got a special jersey yesterday. He was given a red jersey for being best-placed Swiss rider.
I wonder how long it will be before the French introduce the same idea at the TdF - they probably need the idea more than the Swiss do in Switzerland.

If I remember correctly the Vuelta had a similar thing some years ago.

At 13.00 swiss time, after about 65 km, Canadian Anderson and Italian Bazzana about 5-20 ahead of the peloton on the lower slopes of the Simplon, with still 20 km to go to the top.

They’ve just crossed the border back into Switzerland.

The guy on this is clearly saying MO-VI not MOO-VI. So Movie-star is wrong. Also, if you think about it, it would be a lot harder for a Spanish person to pronounce Movie than Movi.

Why would a Spanish cow be making doping allegations in English?

Any sign of any cycling starting?

Lol, looks like Liquigas were the only team that knew the intermediate sprint was there. Sagan wins and gets 3 secs.

French commentators saying that if Sagan is up close on the finish here, they should start to put him in the same category as Jalabert and Kelly.

Pace is high here on the lower slopes with 19km to go. Teams trying to position their guys. Almost like Garmin stringing them out in 09

Kloden dropped or likely just stepped off. Not like in 09 when he was trying his hardest to close down the gap to his teammate and haul up his competitors...
