For the non-italian speakers amongst us, is that the *actual* route tomorrow?
There'll be some fun and games getting through some of those arches! :shock:0 -
It is the actual route, about the last km or so, 8.5%.
Real Italy!
Most of the sound on the video is too muffled, or the background music too loud, for my poor Italian to understand, but one of the commentators on the video writes he’s done the climb riding with just one leg, and his left one at that, while another commentator makes a veiled hint that it’s made for a Cunego victory.0 -
Ah, ok, thanks. Looking at that 'road' surface again, I think they'll be hoping it's dry too. Looks like it would be lethal when wet!0
-
Nice that they go through the town of Bastardo tomorrow, presumably as a tribute to Simoni.0
-
I used to live down the road from Assisi. *sigh* Why did I leave, it's so beautiful? South east London just isn't the same.0
-
I watched this last week and thought the finish reminded me a bit of the one at Briançon in past Tours & Giros, a steep ramp followed by narrow streets. Let's hope the weather is as good as on that video.0

For me that finish sum's up why the GIRO is the best GT for me.eating parmos since 1981

I don't think there'll be much work being done this afternoon. Great stage finish, just needs a bit of drizzle to make it more interesting.....0

Was thinking exactly the same - those narrow streets make for an exciting finish IF the peloton arrive there en masse...
no precipitation expected though..

Looks like a fantastic finish, can't wait. If J Rod is anywhere near his best then I can't see anyone beating him.
Shame about Pozzato, would have been good to see him cap his "comeback" season with a Giro stage win."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -
What a superb finish that is, it will be a real battle for position on the run in. Imagine how narrow it's going to be with spectators on the road side!! Watching that has reinforced that I need to start visiting Italy, I've only ever been to Rome but so much of the country is stunnigly beautiful - can see myself going every year when the kids have grown up.0

Not been this excited about a stage in ages...that last 4km is going to be stunning!0

Having just taken the stripey-paved corner at the Piazza San Francisco, keep on going more or less straight up along the Via San Francesco, Via del Seminario, then the narrower Via Arnaldo Fortini and Via Portica, and you’ll come out in the Piazza del Comune, where the finish is.0 -

They're at a serious disadvantage trying to ride in those robes. Can't someone develop a hessian skin-suit for them?Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
As I sit in my office in the centre of London, I watch that clip and dream....
Amazing - I'd better be able to find a stream of the finish later on!http://www.georgesfoundation.org

UPDATE: Pozzato won't start. He did, though, get onto the Sky bus to apologise for yesterday's crash.
Good of him, some others could learn from that and it was far less clear cut he was at fault than it was with Ferrari the other day. Presumably he didn't just apologise to Sky as they / Cav were arguably less affected than a few others.0 -
I'm still waiting for Ferrari to apologise to me for the lost PTP points.0

He apologised right after the race. Probably went to the bus to find out if Cavendish wanted to go clubbing later.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
Any estimates on what (UK) time the stage will finish?0

Steephill are quoting an approx finish around 4.15pm UK time0 -
Between 1600 and 1630, looking at the roadbook.
Edit: Too slow as usual!0 -
After ca. 40 km, five riders about 4:30 ahead, best placed is Bonnafond, 23 mins back in the GC.
In the peloton, after about km 30, there was a crash involving half-a-dozen riders including Rubiano, who currently wears the mountains jersey.0 -
Keiser is in there too - is that the 3rd consecutive day?http://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png
