Tiered classiness.

Cut me some slack, I did it in 5 minutes.
Let's figure out where things go and I can update it. Unless one of the dour puritans comes along and forbids us from having fun.
Pross is right. We should rename the ranks HC, 1,2,3.0 -

Schleck's far more consistant in the Tour, so far.
Yep. Andy's finished 5 Grand Tours. 3 x 2nd place, 1 x win and 1 x 12'th.
But Evans has 2 2nd place Tour finishes, plus a 4th and an 8th, plus a 3rd and 4th in the Vuelta and a 5th in the Giro.
Finished 12 GTs, podium in 4 of them, top 5 in 3, top 10 in one.
The palmares are in his favour. By a long way.
He's almost 10 years older than Schleck though! We can only compare them when they race together - and Evans isn't getting any younger.0 -
Is Contador so good that he deserves to sit on his own in tier one? As much as I'm not a fan, he is pretty much unparalleled in his ability to consistently ride well for 3 weeks.
I think Evans is same tier as Andy for the year, but won't keep it up.You live and learn. At any rate, you live0 -
Climbers:
Tier 1 Bertie, Pozzovivo, A Schleck, Cunego?
Tier 2 Anton, Gadret, F Schleck, Nibali, Basso
Tier 3 Wiggo, Evans, a load of Rabo riders0 -

Although, I hate cycling I hear. And I need to grow up.
OK, in that case I'd say that Olympics should go up 2 levels (for reasons I've gone into before), G-W and Paris-Tours goes above the Tour of California, any flat GT stage is a bit of a generalisation - if there are 4 or 5 top sprinters or a high quality break or a windy stage (think stage 3 in 2009 TdF) then that changes everything.
Pais Vasco should be on the same level as Dauphine Libere and Switzerland.
Add Tour of Qatar to the bottom of your list.0 -

Sammy Sanchez? Christophe Moreau?
Sanchez interesting.
At best, a tier 3 climber. But do we include his decending ability in the 'climber' catagory?
Me thinks not.0 -

He won a mountain top finish in the Tour last year. IIRC he did it by burning the GC contenders off his back wheel.0 -

Are you on crack?
A good climber is capable of deciding a stage in a single stage. Half of the names listed above shouldn't even make tier 5.0 -
Should Bertie even be on the lists? Surely we need to see if he can match past glories when he's done his time?0

Ok, take it from 2007 then, which is when Andy completed his first GT.
All you knock off from my list is a 4th and 8th in the tour. He's still winning.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

Most of them either win big mountain stages or are in the lead group. But it's all at the white paper stage at the moment so nows the chance to put suggestions forward!0 -

No. Deadpan is a dying art.
In that case Iain needs to film everything he says, put it on youtube and then provide us with a link, rather than posting in writing.0 -
Hmm, Rick, no I didn't consider that.0

Iain, you might think that joking about gentle-looking herbivores is funny, but trust me, when you've had one of these things stick its horns up your trousers and scratch your legs to buggery you know it's not a laughing matter.

Jaysus... Pozzovivo is tier 3 at best. Apart from his Trentino form this year, what has he really done?
Arguably Rujano is more consistent. I guess this is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' kinda thing.
For me: Scarponi in tier 2; Nieve tier 3; Cunego tier 3; Samu tier 3; Horner tier 2; Leipheimer tier 3; Kreuziger tier 3. Bertie and Andy are in a level by themselves for me (on the big mountains).0 -

Ah, thought you'd posted the wrong pic or something.
Now once Rick has done all the deletions asked for above, your reply and this response to it is going to look pretty stupid.

Rick Chasey wrote:We all agreed G-W is a chipper in all but world tour points?
What do you mean all? I never agreed to that. Look at the record for G-W wins - shared by Merckx, Cipo and Boonen. Personally I think it's far better than a chipper because it sees the top rouleurs and the top sprinters in decent form and in with a decent chance of winning.0
