Agree with the previous poster that its good he's not put all his eggs in the TdF basket. Winning the Paris Nice and Romandie will take a little pressure off the TdF.

I didn't think it was too bad.

It's the Tour of Romandie. What do you expect? It's not exactly known for it's classic editions.

Something other than a Franco-Swiss version of the ENECO Tour.
Romandie always favours the strong trialist, but used to include a selective mountain finish, too.
It's not as if they are short of parcour to balance the climbing/ITT scales.

Weather/time of year makes it difficult though. It's all quite high up around there.

Having said that, doesn't mean you can't have a hill top (as opposed to a mountain top) finish.

    Two bits of trivia.

    1. The only other rider to have won Paris-Nice, Romandie and Dauphine in their career is Eddy Merckx.

    2. Wiggins has now won more major stage races than Robert Millar (Catalunya & Dauphine). Millar has many more podiums though.

Millar as good as won the 1985 Vuelta but for possibly criminal activity that changed the GC-motorpacing allegations being implied by Kelly and team. I don't think Brad has come anywhere near as close yet to a major grand tour win and his climbing form will have to improve much more than 2009 and 2011 before he can get as close to winning a grand tour as Millar did

3rd in 2011 Vuelta not close enough for you?
  • Great result for Wiggins & Sky. Also good to hear Wiggins so complimentary about his teammates these days. Maybe he's learning from Cavendish and is actually become a real leader that others will WANT to ride for. Am looking forward to July...

He really needs to reconsider those chainrings. When you see the slow motion of how much the chain was bouncing about on what looked a reasonable surface it's no wonder the chain came off. I also can't see how they can be that efficient when the chain is able to bounce like that. Do any of the other GT contenders use them at all?

Dave#1 - I sure I'm right in thinking you've actually got the t-shirt in respect to pro cycling, unlike the majority of us (me included). However, I think you are being really harsh on Brads chances this year. I truly believe his capabilities have increased a great deal over the past year or so. And he can go up mountains. Won't ever be a sight to behold or poetry in motion - but he gets up 'em!!!

Sastre rides/rode Q-rings, I believe he was riding them in '08.

So where does that leave EBH then - the old new Merckx?
