If it had come back together, Sagan would have won that you know.....Bright future that boy! Big up the MTBers!

    Two Australians in two years....

    Wheel sucking Gerrans.

Cancellara must be so pissed. He prevents any chasers from catching then guys just ride his wheels and jump him on the line.

Nibs with the winning move but looked like he had nothing left to go with 1km.

22 yr old Sagan best of the chasers - Amazing.

    Degenkolb - wow!

Shame for Gilbert, he was looking pretty good.

Imagine crashing with 500m left of a 300km race...

    Good race.

    Massive come down.

Was bouncing off the walls when I saw Boonen in the Katusha chase group....

Some saying on twitter that the Quick Step rider wasn't Boonen.

Ha - you're so predictable with the 'wheel sucking' jibe. You just don't get it do you?

    Yeah is possible.

If so, still disappointed - should have been there to crash to begin with - especially if Denkolb can make it with the group with his fat ass.
  • Excellent, enjoyed that. Smart riding from Gerrans. Also an excellent ride from Sagan, think he could have won that if he'd been on a different team from Nibali.

Totally agree, but he's looking great for Flanders and Roubaix.

Cancellara is his own worst enemy. He thinks he can ride anyone off his wheel, but often he can't. Smart riding by Gerrans to let let him (oh so predictably) do all the work for him.

Everyone will just do the same as last year and mark him out of the race.

    Tactics, but unfortunate for Canc.
If he hadn't kept driving Sagan probably would have won.

    Poor move by Liquigas.

Less flat in the finale. Will matter less.

The ettiquette of 30kms to go doesn't apply on the flat with only 4 left. Although Gerrans did briefly come through, only a loser would willingly allow Cancellara some time to rest.

    Yeah, but I hope not.
He's been such a strong rider for so long, as there a good chance he'll end his career with palmares that don't do that justice (although still amazing)

    Poor move by Liquigas.

To be fair to Nibs, he followed rather then led once Canc joined him and Gerrans - he looked like he was struggling a little on the descent... he must've known he wouldn't beat either of 'em in the sprint, and that Sagan was strong behind. If Gerrans hadn't done his tiny shift, Sagan might have had enough road to come through...

I'd rather see Cancellara ride like an absolute demon and come 2nd then him just sitting in the back of a group of 10, doing the odd 15sec pull then trying to come round riders with 50m to go. He 150% improves the viewing of these races.

No one is as good as him to do that sort of thing. No one, not even close. I hope he cleans up at least one other big race to come.

Gerrans played that superbly. Followed the right move and it was the only way he could win. It's all about crossing the line first.

Get on the front and ride 2kmh too slow then?

No, that's racing. Anyway I doubt it was effortless to hold Cancellara's wheel. Gerrans just marked the right guy (Nibali) at the right moment and played poker with Cancellara. Rather similar to the Tour of Flanders finale last year actually.

He could've tried that, but inside he was probably cheesed off with himself when he saw who he had for company at the top of the poggio. \it'll be interesting to hear what he has to say...

    Yeah where Nuyens sucked.

I don't care if it is 'racing'. And sure they have to ride very hard to hold his wheel, but without him they, would, not, win. Yes the guys may win but it isn't an impressive win or a Classic win.

But they are prepared to lose everything to win. Something Cancellara desperately needs to learn.

Aye - Radioshack need the world tour points from a podium finish.

They're not going to get them from anywhere else.
