He doesn't really seem like a Sky rider does he? More unpredictable and exciting than a rider by numbers.

Yeah seems like an exciting and attacking rider but don't think that will matter too much with Sky. At the end of the day I am sure he will be happy to get a good contract even if he has to ride slightly differently. If he is unhappy after two years and continues this talent, other teams will snap him up.

Also if interest. Which Pro Continental team took part in the Giro as their first Grand Tour? NetApp? I'm sure the Italian Pro Continental teams have race previously.

Yep, NetApp. Thats the other team rumoured for the possible merger.

In the event that Froome is still knackered (and assuming Wiggins doesn't ride), I would have thought JTL is GB's best hope in that race if he can handle the distance. looks like Dowsett and G for the TT team as I can't see Froome riding it.

EDIT Actually maybe Cummings is the best shot.
  • JTL's never ridden a 1-dayer of this distance and class, so he'd be riding for someone else.

GB arent exactly spoilt for choice when it comes down to a reasonale leader. G's just come off the boards, Wiggo wants to ride as team-mate, Froome looks like he'll only be fit for a rest home in Broadstairs after the Vuelta, Miller only wants to ride the TTT for Garmin, Stannard put in more miles on the front of the peloton this year that anyone else coming into the Vuelta...

Maybe Cummings is an OK shout. Come into form at just the right time, and doesnt have many racing miles in his legs compared to the others.

Problem with Cummings is I'm not sure how much a predominantly Sky team will be prepared to do to give a BMC rider the stripes. I reckon just get a few into breaks and see how they go - you never know, someone might get lucky.

They were happy doing it for a HTC rider last year
  • This thread seems to be revived every few weeks, with someone saying he could win the Worlds only to be rebuffed by the fact "he's never raced this distance/quality/never won outside of February/Haut Var isn't a big race"/

Not criticising the most recent round, but have we nothing else to talk about?

Endura just announced their ToB team:

    JTL
    Camano
    Dempster
    Downing
    Voss
    Bibby

Strong team. Shame Thwaites isn't riding, but maybe some sort of clash with World Champs training?

The legend-to-be that is JTL is starting to look like Britain's first winner of the ToB.
My feeling is that he'll be in the leaders jersey by end of Stage 6 (in a break with Wiggo, too much to ask?), so he can ride his home stage through Devon in it.

Good shout - Think he will take the jersey today for sure, he loved caerphilly mountain last year!

As he’s Sky next season and has been training with them, do you reckon they’ll lend a hand, or ride for Knees?
  • I think they'll ride for Knees - to do anything other would be a kick in the teeth for him, given how hard he's worked this year. And Cav will have to look after himself with maybe just Jez Hunt for company. Looks like Bernie's not having a good time of it on our roads - he was well behind Cav yday.

Eisel had dropped back to the team car on the Oakamoor climb and was getting a free ride holding onto the car on the very last bit. He still looked fairly chirpy, but I suspect that's just what he always looks like!
