@Dave1 - if Sky have to pay Endura to get JTL out of his contract and offer them enough money (think the Wiggins precedent), that would take the pressure off Endura having to find a BIG sponsor and allow them to step up to Pro Conti. Although they wouldn't have JTL...

Think JTL would be better served staying with Endura if they moved to pro conti

Absolutely. Haven't a clue as to the finances, but surely it would be worth Endura having a good look down the back of the sofa to see if they can come up with the cash.

Or ask another (Scottish) sponsor on board.

Team Endura-Irn Bru. Just think of the adverts they could come up with.

JTL could be vital to Endura's sponsorship search. If Sky have ethics, they will leave JTL at Endura in 2012. I can understand foreign based team's being more cut throat but would hope Sky will not want to hurt the potential growth of a second top pro cycling team in the UK. + Sky needs decent talent scouts like Endura has given the way they overlooked Tour of Britain results of 2011

    A) Well, apart from the fact that he will never get to ride the biggest races by doing that, Maybe he want a crack at the queens stage of the Giro or the Tour, Endura can't give him that chance, Sky (or another Pro Tour team) can.

You re asking him to sacrifice his future palmeres (and his wages) as charity to a Team. That's not fair on him at all!

    B) Sky can't sign every rider with potential in the world, they re only allowed 30! To talk about them needing better scouts is rubbish! Which Current Sky rider would you have left out?

If someone came knocking with a big suitcase full of cash, I doubt Brian Smith would be holding him back and telling him not to take it if Endura weren't in a position to make the same offer.

JTL's lifespan as a pro is even shorter than most and if he got the chance to make some serious cash he should take it.

Sounds like he was aggressive, but couldn't quite crack Quintana and then got caught by Poels on the descent: http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/vuelta-ciclista-a-murcia-2012/stage-1/results Some good names behind him though!

Certainly agree about the cash, Iain, he has to make the most he can in a fairly short period, but don't you think he may well be better off, financially and racing, by being a whale at Pro-Conti level rather than a servant minnow at Sky?

Who knows what is around the corner in any walk of life let alone cycling (as I'm sure Johnny Bellis would testify) JTL should snatch the most lucrative offer made available to him.Who knows how long this purple patch will last or if any health issues will raise their head again.

JTL will remain loyal to Endura Racing for 2012. That is testament to his loyalty and honesty. With every performance he is adding value to his potential earning for 2013-14. the team are 100% behind him. There are many World Tour teams looking at him and Endura want the best for him. We are a Bike Pure team with Bike Pure values. I have 100% trust in him and will back him all the way. This guy could go all the way on the big stage and i think the UK should support him. Although we do not need to, we are backing a blood passport scheme for him to prove to the world that he is the genuine article. All details will be announced soon...

Brian there is a whole pool of talent down the MDCC who have been riding with Mr Lewis et al for a while. Get signed up before anyone else realises Dartmoor breeds them hardy! :D

What an interesting finish today could be. Columbian climbers are never usually noted TT specialists and JTLs ToB tt form makes one wonder if it'll be GC win 3 to JTL? Can't wait to see results this evening.

actually, however, just noticed Vuelta Castilla Leon TT results..JTL will perhaps struggle to take back time on Nairo Quintana today

It's thrilling following JTL and Endura's exploits at the moment- a brilliant sub-plot to the whole Sky thing. He's doing exactly what fans love most - exploding races like a grenade (or "comme une BOMBE!!", as the French bloke commentating at Haut Var yelled).... And, more than that - he has an aura about him. Not quite sure what it is. It's a seriousness - maybe a point to prove..?

Attacking from the base on his own initiative. Budding-True Champ : )

Would like to see some footage but by the sounds of it there were a handful of pace changes with JTL and the Colombian that could have cost him the win.

Took some top climbing scalps in that race too.

Nice to hear he is with Endura until the season end.

I wonder what invites to bigger than they planned races Endura might get in the coming months? Am sure organisers want JTL in their races now

The other key aspect of having Endura at the bigger races, besides the added prestige and publicity, is that hopefully they'll be better covered by the all important TV cameras: we'll get to see the action rather than just read about it in race reports.
And JTL's attacks will become the stuff internet legend and the clips will be used for title sequence montages...

endura have alot of very good riders who will get big results even when JTL doesn't, the likes of Downing, Wetterhall, Voss are all at a higher level than conti, so any big races they get a ride in they will put on a good showing
