  • When I was in Tenerife in late March/early Apr there was an Endura rider training with Wiggins and team Pie........looked like JTL - not sure tho.

I'd put money on not being R Downing.................

Let's get this thread going again. JTL is currently riding the Tour Alsace. http://www.touralsace.fr/

Right now, he's in a group off the front setting himself up nicely on GC ahead of a difficult weekend in the mountains. http://live.touralsace.fr/etape_2_stras ... choffsheim

It might all come back together but these races are harder to control than the biggies. And the stages that matter are at the weekend. Still, it's nice to see him showing.

Taken the GC, KoM and combativity prize as well. I doubt LL will last long enough for her to get the Endura shirt on!

What a crazy game over....the riders behind failed majorly.

Roswell is 6th. That guy is good. Tore up the field like it was a game when he raced at Crystal Palace.

    Nice work JTL.

Ok at the risk of getting flamed. If JTL is so red hot why he is 27 years old without a pro-contract from a contiental or world tour team?

Genuine question. I know nothing about the chap.

There's an article somewhere explaining the whole thing. He did ride for a French team at one point. The story in the article is that he was stood in the bike shop one day with the TdF on the TV when he saw one of his old team mates in a break. He knew he'd been better than the guy and realised that he might have made a terrible mistake.

Yep, had a good career as a top amature in France before Epstein-Barr virus wiped him out completely. Took 3 years off at Bristol Uni, got a job in a bike-shop where he caught the tail end of the Tour de France one year and fell back in love.

Spent some time earlier this year in Tenerif training with Sky. Would be surprised if he isn't protour next year, as he's had other offers, not just from Sky.

Brailsford has also hinted that he may ride the Worlds this year.

Fair enough. Well let's hope he gets a nice fat contract from Rupe's troop and shows us what he can do with the big boys.

The Tenerife part will get the tongues wagging ;) Almost certain to be at Sky next season is my 'guess' especially as Endura are apparently dropping their sponsorship and currently don't have a replacement. It's a shame he missed such a big chunk of his career but still has 5 years or more at the top.

Yeah I was one of the first to report on the Sky thing and Spent time talking to Brian Smith obtaining the facts. Was a genuine case of teams helping eachother and fulfilling favours. See here http://www.inthegc.com/2012/04/jonathan-tiernan-locke-trained-with.html

Cycling Weekly reported it 2 weeks later, without any facts or interviews and made a bigger deal out of it.

Of course there is genuine Sky interest - he's talented and British, but there was interest from elsewhere also. From what ive heard he won't be making a decision for a couple of months yet, and Brian hasn't had any direct Negotiations with Sky or Brailsford yet.

Why be snide? He can only beat the people who line up against him in the races he has access to. Chartrix scores the same as zakarin in scrabble, but also has the tdf kom on his palmares.

I was at a Q&A in April with Ned Boulting and Colin Lewis (JTL's mentor and former couch), and according to Colin, JTL's going to be at SKY next year - sounded like it was mainly a question of the price Brian Smith wanted for him.

He doesn't really seem like a Sky rider does he? More unpredictable and exciting than a rider by numbers.
