I've commented elsewhere that I think Marianne Vos is in the same category as Usain Bolt and Adam Ondra - athletes who seem head and shoulders above their peers.
Her participation in mountain biking this year will be fascinating, as in the world cup races she'll be competing with Julie Bresset who seemed similarly ahead of all the others in 2012 (she won the Olympic XC race, the world championships and her national championship as well).0 -

I try to keep an eye out for womens cycling results and stuff. Im fairly new to following cycling though.
But I think as any other cyclist alongside Vos, its one of those situations when unfortunately your career coincides with that of someone who is truely special (like TimB mentions above) like Jordan, Usain Bolt, Tiger Woods, Tyson, Messi, Pele, when all in their prime.
Some RvD thoughts from fair Lizzie:

It's a good thing nobody cares about women's cycling, or else Vos would be getting the same treatment Sky are getting.
Or maybe not."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -

Sorry, late notice, but the march issue of Cyclist has a nice write up on Marianne's career.

Funnily enough when I saw that comment by Wiggins I immediately thought of this descent. I hadn`t known Vos that well at the time and was amazed at the descending prowess or her (and some of the others).Contador is the Greatest0

yeah when a jersey that fits nicely I buy a load of the same ones too. I wonder if she, like me, has to keep explaining to people that it's lots of different ones and not just the same smelly jersey?0 -

First XCO world Cup. Not had the best start, but attacking up the hills, bit behind the main favourites at the moment. Riding in the Rabbobank kit. Nice technical course, good and slippery! We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

1 to go - still no time made up up others dropping back now. Could be interesting if she get's a start near the front of the grid in future, needs to get in the the singletrack first as she doesnt have the skills to make up time on that (yet)We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Eva Lechner wins from (the rather lovely) Maja Wlaskoniakawakka (or something Polish). Controlled it from the front and attacked on the descent when the rain started.
Kinda nice all the finishers acknowledge the crowds
Vos up to 11th, no time made up though...Not there next week which is a shame as I suspect she could do something a lot better with a better start positionWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence
