Never have trolled never will.
Do you think she would have got an MBE if she hadnt won the Olympics? My point is directed towards how they seem to doll them out to any Gold medalist even if you can have much wider and greater achievements in your sport outside of the Olympics.
It is significantly easier to be an all-rounder in ladies cycling so your comparison is worthless.Contador is the Greatest0 -

I don't think she would have done, no. But then the Olympics can probabl still be said to be the pinnacle of womens road cycling as it's the most publicised and viewed race.
You really should find a video of that 2002 Commonwealth RR. A truly amazing performance."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Err, have the podium girl's jean shorts fallen down? You would have thought she might have noticed...0 -
^Lol
Congratulations Vos!

She can take a break now before London, stop over in the Alps on the way home and catch some Tour stages... although her favourite rider's not there this year.

VOS THE BOSS
OLYMPIC CHAMPION
Many digs trying to break it up. Then bridges to the Russian and uses supreme power to create the gap. Then for an hour does the biggest pulls. Then does pulls to the end. Then lights it up and doesn't let Lizzie come past her even though she had been drafting for the last 2km.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Oh yeah, cos all Lizzie did was wheel suck all day. Vos deserved to win but try and behave like you actually watched the same race as everyone else and not some fantasy in your head.0 -
Sally Nugent refers to her as Marianne Vos (Pron like Rose) x 3 this morning

Fail ...already being discussed in the WRR spoiler thread0

I didn't say Lizzie didn't pull. She did big turns for the duration apart from the last few km.Contador is the Greatest0

That was just smart racing, watch any good breakaway specialist and they'll do the same thing.
Both Vos and Armitstead would have been worthy winners yesterday."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -
Last bit of the race Vos was pulling either, at the point it was mentioned Lizzie wasn't pulling, neither was Vos, they assumed 2nd and 3rd of the three. Anyone watching knows this. Lizzie was strong.0

Well, in the last 3k Lizzie took no turns on the front, Vos had two 20second-ish goes on the front, and at this point they weren't hammering it quite so hard as they had been, the rest of the last 3k was all the Russian pulling until the sprint in the last couple of hundred metres. That's what happened. So MOST of the end it was the Russian was on the front, that was my point.0

It's not against the rules to miss turns or work less than others in a break, especially if you know you're up against the best rider and one desperate to do well in front of a home crowd.0
-
Wow, stop getting worked up. I don't think Lizzie is a wheel sucker. Do you want a load of photos to prove I like her? as I have a fair few handy.
All I was saying was that Vos was so strong that she attacked throughout the race, drove the break, put in turns to the last km or so and won the sprint. She is very, very strong.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Just seen this and have to ask - how mnay Olympic medals has Mark Cavendish MBE won?0 -
She won a race in Holland earlier today; now en route back to London for the Olympics closing ceremony.0

Apparently she was up at the crack of dawn mid-week before the race to do a recce run-in to the Mall from the hotel at the foot of Box Hill before the roads were too busy with traffic. I reckon she had that long break for home totally planned out and whoever else got in the break with her didn't matter.0 -
