Do you reckon that the poor lass on the green bike just gets hurled backwards ever time Vos takes over?
Oh and Beach races are not MTB races...they re some form of medieval torture that could only be created by a nation like the dutch...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Do you reckon all the other younger riders keep on checking her birth date obsessively, to work out how many more years she's got?0

I like at 2:45 where she decides she's had enough in one group and simply decides to bridge the gap to the one in front.0 -

Just had a meeting with some Dutch suppliers and part of their presentation was a video of the work they'd done in Holland House at the Olympics. Featuring, prominantly, Marianne Vos dancing on a table with her gold medal, clutching a massive replica gold medal."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

A brilliant sequence of photos that captures the action as well as a sense of the atmosphere of the venue, e.g. the shot of the fan with mobile phone is very nicely seen and captured.0 -

Some nerdy Marianne Vos stats. Weight 58kg, VO2 max 72.8ml/kg, 5 min power to weight of 6.63w/kg. Reckon I'm better at power napping though.

That must be a Superpresige event – they don't do the ladies any favours.
MTBing in Cyprus this week ahead of 3-day Sunshine Cup race, which begins, well, now actually.

Update — Placed second in the stage 1 MTB time trial.0 -
Well, that was quick.
Won her first elite MTB race today, with a comfy 3 minute gap on the second place rider (whoever that was).

What an incredible woman. Track, X, road, MTB. What's next? Now, she really is what one would call a Certified Heavyweight and True Champion. She's going to have to build an annex to her already well-stocked trophy room!

Greatest cyclist of all time. IMHO. We're lucky to be around at her peak (even if the other riders might not think so!).It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0

Ok, i'm not her PR guru, but I certainly would be looking fwd to read an InTheGC piece, perhaps looking back on her road career now she has moved onto MTB? Women's road racing, media, intheGC bucking the trend!0 -

Yeah It is a good shout - I certainly do feel guilty about my lack of female racing content and it could help niche up the blog a little. Issue i have with writing about the women is that due to lack of coverage etc I really know very little about it, it's also hard to review a race that you can't watch! I have been considering making some inroads in this department though and your idea is a good one so maybe I should start now...0 -
