If I owned one, yes.
Why, wouldn't you?0 -
I'm in desperate need of a new Jersey, and saw its going cheap on Wiggle, as a football fan, wearing replica kit seems fine to me, and as SKY represents a large contingent of British riders, it makes perfect sense. However i also don't want to look like im up myself, or pretending to be something i'm not, for instance, i cycle around in less recogniseable team jerseys quite happily, but as SKY is now well know to general public, and with the Cavendish move, i don't want to be tagged with the jumping on the bandwagon tag and get a load of stick from some of the higher than mighty local cyclists who don't have a penchant for replica kit...I know most will say get what you like, wear what you like, and this is my general thinking, just wondered who else on here rode in a replica kit, or would be happy too...0

Go for it! I have a couple of replicas (HTC & Garmin) & wear them both regularly. I regularly see loads out in replica kit & don't bat an eyelid.I Dont Ride Hills, I Climb Mountains!

I'll be happy whatever you do.
You'll only look like a desperate try-hard if you subconsciously (or consciously) think you are one. Caring what other people think about how you attire yourself whilst outdoors is a mistake.
What we really need is a new thread about what is and what is not acceptable to wear, we haven't had one all year.0 -
I wouldn't - nothing against the team but not keen on riding around as a billboard for that sponsor.

As far as bikeradarforumworld (sic) goes Leicester Lad, I know you re a half decent bloke with an acceptably sensible view of the world (Schlecks aside! ), so I would say get one.
Thereby it will also provide a useful function identifying anyone who whines about what you are wearing it as a hopeless looser with whom you should not waste your time with and should laugh pitifully at...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Just messing...wear what you like.0 -
Just wear this one with some nice natty stripes, it will keep everyone happy:

OK, so wearing a Sky jersey seems to OK in bikeforumworld (sic), what about one with Rainbow stripes?
In my book it is simply wrong. There's only one person entitled to wear that on the road.
Not sure Sky / Adidas would agree.Live to ski

Welcome to the forum Colin, can I assume this is your first ever post?0

1. Yes - definately. In fact I am going to get a top and shorts (once I reach my target weight for 2012)
2. How cheap is cheap? Only reason I ask is that when I was visiting my in-laws in Wales over Xmas we went to the Designer Outlet Village at Bridgend (I guess the closet one to you may be http://www.eastmidlandsdesigneroutlet.com/) and they had Sky kit at 50% or more off. Just worth a thought.
3. My friend and I were discussing this the other day, and actually its the other cyclists that we were laughing at. For example, Pair of Castelli Bib Shorts that will be £x to you sir; Pair of Castelli Garmin-Cervolo shorts (maybe not current year) at times 50% off. The point? The team kit will generally be good quality gear or just the same shorts with logos on, but generally gets discounted heavier.
4. My general riding kit is Liquigas normally.0 -

I dare say if I were familiar with the business practices of the major shareholders of several I'd not want to wear their kit either - I don't feel that strongly about it but as there is plenty of choice of kit out there the association with Murdoch is enough to make me buy something else - seems reasonable enough to me.

I've been thinking the same thing. I'm not a fan of Sky as a company, nor am I fond of Rupert Murdoch. But that jersey would go so well with my black/blue/white Cube Streamer!0

Not me.
I'm fine about wearing kit with logos, for the manufacturer of the various bits such as Assos, Giordana, Castelli, etc in clothing and all the associated componentry bits like Campag, Mavic etc, but somehow just can't convince myself to wear a team jersey or knicks. I really like the colours of the Leopard Trek kit last year, and tbh, the SKY kit looks good, simple and distinctive. Just wouldn't wear it....
The Movistar stuff looks nice IMO too, but no way would I wear that either.
I also hate mismatched brands personally... you know, guys in Cervelo jerseys riding a Specialized... Nothing wrong with either brand, and all good gear, just looks wrong to me. My LBS has a very nice simple Spesh jersey, which has only that stylised "S" logo on the chest, but I'd still not wear it riding on anything other than my Epic MTB...Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -
I read this thread and had a random thought ...
Maybe wiggins should buy a share in wiggle, we could all then wear branded shirts with Wigglins on itFCN 3/5/90 -
I've got one and of course, I wear it. It's a good quality jersey, nice design and not too fussy.
Couldn't give a toss what anyone thinks.0 -
Why not wear it?
I wear a liquigas summer top and a Saxo Bank thermal top in early winter.
I sprint like a snail and climb hills like a rock but couldn't give a toss what others think0 -
To be honest, I'm not overly keen on the Sky jersey, but if I liked the Jersey I'd wear it. I have no issue in wearing the jersey of a team which I follow.
My view is, if you like it, wear it.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.
Faith is the denial of observation so that Belief can be preserved0 -
Cheers for all the replies, I purchased one for £31, think it was half price, (deffinately wouldn't spend £60 on one), It matches the rest of my black kit, easy to keep clean (minus the big white area on the rear) so its all good.
And cheers for the compliments ddraver, however you ruined it with the mention of the 'S' word.0 -
I have one and wear it, it also matches my bike and helmet colour scheme although my bike is far from being a Pinarello!2019 Ribble CGR SL

I have a SKY jersey and matching bibs. I wear them because I support the only British team in the pro peloton just the same as a football fan wears their team strip.
It's unfortunate that SKY sponsor the team but it's not "SKY" that I'm supporting. Looking forward to watching this summers racing, exciting times for British cycling!0 -
Jeez..Why should you care what you wear?? At the end of the day, do you buy clothes that you think other people will like, or that YOU will like? Same applies here. Why should it bother you what other people think about you, why do you care so much. If people judge you upon the jersey you wear, they have some serious personality issues (or don't have one). However, i would also say that if you are thinking this much about it, & have gone to the extent of posting a thread about it to your peers, it strikes me that you also have some isues!!
It's only a feckin jersey!
If people judge you, let them. Do they actually know you? Who cares? People need to stop getting so hung up on appearances...
Wear the damn jersey...wear it with pride man!!
PS: Sorry, i've had a pants day.0 -

Yeah you are right, i should care alot less. Just after 'worldchampsstripegate' earlier in the year, i though it worth asking.
As for a pants day? on the first non windy day in 8 months? That is bad...0 -
