Chain Reaction Cycles - Your Honest Opinion

You've had it 5 months, sending off for warranty repair or replacement sounds reasonable to me.0

Never had a problem, really fast delivery, one time I ordered something and they couldn't get stock, told me within 2 days and sent me a £5 voucher for my troubles, no min spend or any silliness (I spent £5.25 on some sundries).Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

I have explained to them that I use my bike to commute and don't have another helmet but they just say they will sent it off and have to wait.0

I am looking for a MTB and the cycle to work things looks like the way to go for me, I found the bike I wanted, rang to order after firstly reading this from their website:
"Although Chain Reaction Cycles Ltd. has its own Ride to work scheme we also accept vouchers from other Ride to Work schemes. Please contact us to discover what schemes are available. Please note that a 10% administration charge will apply on all non Chain Reaction schemes."
I spoke to CRC only to be told we don't accept http://www.cyclescheme.co.uk/ vouchers end of.... that was it.... good bye....
I thought Cyclescheme was one of the big one's and might have been supported, but no! never mind their loss I will keep looking.

Well, i always thought CRC was quite good......until my last order.
I ordered a bunch of stuff, to upgrade my wifes bike. one of the items were xt 10sp shifters. I booked a day off to do everything once it turned up.
After doing half the work i found that the shifters were actually 9sp rather than 10sp, but packaged and sold as 10sp. Mistakes happen, so gave them a bell and told them the problem, Dan said that i have to do the collect plus thing, ok. and that they would check the rest of the stock to see if there were more items that had been incorrectly pacakaged.
I also explaind to him the the product i got had been opened and had a few bit missing, like those cable end caps.
any way, i recieved my new items a week later......and wait for it.....yes.....9sp shifters packaged as 10sp. you can imagine that i was a bit peeved, so phoned them up, and Dan basically repeated exactly what he said last time, i was not very happy about this, especially since they had apparently checked all the stock. they did not even offer to get me a new set out straight away for my inconvienence, just gave me a whole load of rubbish about how they have to do it by the system.
To be honest after that, i aint going to be using them for quite a while, I will go back to WIGGLE, who actually sell the product for less then crc.0 -

Have to say that I'm quite disappointed with CRC today - new crankset just fell apart after about 100 miles, thread was stripped on non-drive side bolt, crank literally fell off while out on the road. Refused warranty with the old "you must have fitted it wrong" thing - not sure how to fight that one.0
-
Hard to see how the thread would be stripped if you hadn't fitted it wrong.0
-
Well, this is one thread that ought to be stripped.
As a counterpoint, I ordered a Fox Striker helmet from CRC late on Tuesday night and it was waiting for me when I arrived home from work today. Mind you, I've not worn it while riding yet so, as far as I know, it might kill me and I'll go to my grave blaming Wiggle0 -
I find it astonishing that somebody signs up to the forum literally, just to have a moan!!
My experience has been nothing but exemplary, ordered loads from them late one Thursday, arrived before 10am on the Saturday. Ordered more from them another time to convert to 1x10, again rapid delivery.
There was a mistake on the shoes I ordered, and as they had been worn, they said I can send them back but it would take time, or they offered me a £20 voucher, I liked the shoes anyway, so I fail to see any issues with CRC, do will definitely be using them in the future!!Kev

I've been usng CRC since 1998. Never had any problems with them. They are a little late in dispatching some things nowadays, but apart from that, can't fault them.Nothing ventured, nothing gained. http://doricdiversions.com
