  • Incredible job by Wiggins, then Stannard/Geraint to get Cav higher then Cav for keeping calm, finding the gap and ripping them.

    Congratulations.

Strong sprint from Cavendish, so deserved win. But it really was a race of 15 seconds interest

Look on the bright side. Valkenberg 2012 will be a proper circuit!

  • A great performance by the GB team. And to think that back in the old days the only time one usually saw a GB jersey was when the rider wearing it was going out of the back!
  • I can definitely see how Oz how no need for Renshaw

His ability to cope with pressure and deliver the result when it matters is amazing. What a superb team performance too.

The type of course varies each year, and Cav took advantage of the course to suit him. Come on Iain, at least give it a day or two before the analysis and sniping starts.

Well done Cav, and the GB team. We're going to have a whole year of watching a Brit in the rainbow jersey.

Cav was superb. TeamGB did a great effort to keep it under control. I can only guess that Wiggo was doing a super pace on the final lap, otherwise no idea why no-one attacked properly.

Setting up the sprint was a shambles. If Goss won, most of us would be criticising the tactics late on ..... but didn't matter in the end.

What happened to Gilbert, Sagan etc?

Its a shame that a few years down the road Cav will still be remembered as World Champ but the effort to get him there will be forgotten, the whole team deserve a medal!!

Won't be forgotten by anyone who watched the race. They were immense!

Not sure the sprint was messed up, we only had Stannard and Thomas left with Cav on their wheel with a long finish straight ahead, Cav god moved back a bit but got in about 10th place so he knew what he was doing, G ended up on the fron early but Cav was behind Goss which is a pretty good wheel to get onto. CAv started his sprint in perfect time and got a jump on Goss. Dagan faded badly but he is still young, Gilbert just not fast enough against true sprinters, Chinny did really well and was very close to 3rd.
Glad the Italians and spannish got nowhere having done nothing :D Thought EBH would have finished higher up, at least his team and Germans did some work.

My memory is of Robert Miller trailing at the back while he was acting as a domestic for the Greg Lemond USA Team.

  • Brilliant ride by the whole team on the front of the peleoton pretty much from the start. Its hard to pick one out as they are rode themselves into the ground. Like Cav said he HAD to win after the effort they had put in for him.
