5.7 km Prologue in a dull suburb of Amersfoort - and very windy. Lap is mix of long straights and very sharp technical corners and narrow sections. Loads of roundabouts and speed bumps.
Rain started after the first few riders finished. Spprinter and German champ Robert Wagner has had fastest time by far (6 seconds on Ben Hermans) since. Prologue specialist Rick Flens just went down. It's dry now.

Going by PTP picks EBH has the GC, and Lars Boom the prologue sewn up.

I think there might be a bit more to it though, as one of the stages as 2.4km climb just before the end which seems ideal for Gilbert.

Agree. They could make it so much more interesting, even without simply copying other tours and making it hillier - why not add some coastal windy roads in Zeeland or the Afsluitdijk, cobbles in Drenthe or Flanders, etc.

Phinney by far the fastest - will be a tricky target for Boom. Did anyone have Phinney for PTP?

I thought about it, but that doesn't count.

Gilbert flat out, 5th time. Definitely focused on GC. Loses 13 seconds on Phinney; there'll be very few that can do the Ardennes stage faster

Cheers, its about the only time one of my slightly left field picks have come off this year. Thus my overall ptp ranking.

    Boom 5th

I did rozzer32 an injustice... he had Phinney too.

Tomorrow's stage must be so flat they can't even be bothered to put a profile on the Eneco Tour website.

The Eneco is so turd, instead of profiles they have just given a 12 word description of each stage.

''Stage 1 - Ride on own for 5k. Stage 2 - long flat one. Stage 3 - long flat one........you get the picture.

There are profiles for stages with hills. For tomorrow's stage the words are more informative than any profile would be

It's not the Alps but the final stage (Sittard) has a lot of up and down around Limburg - Gilbert country.

Maybe i should change my PTP pick to G if the last stage is going to be a toughy then....

Much of the stage is run on the route of the Amstel Gold race. Twice up the Cauberg, plus several other local climbs. Nothing long or that steep (the Keutenberg is 20% but only a few hundred metres long), and the last 4km of the stage is pretty flat. An interesting route, especially if the race is close on the final day.
Next year's World Championships are run around here - locals are already tipping Gilbert.

Phinney punctures, looking cool but he's going to have a hard chase getting back on.

Dogleg bend, giant speed humps, narrow road for the finish... I'll be amazed if there ain't a big crash in the final sprint.
