Missed again - I am fast losing my knack here, glad I signed such a long contract with Team GILT. Well done DD your first stage wine on this tour I believe..

I have to say the Alpe dManning makes me feel a bit sick.

A fine Merlot as well I do believe.

But please, no Alpe d'Manning, not until later. I may well need to relinquish the stage jersey though, bloods tomorrow.

    Can't skip a test...

Dammit, had a mechanical in the neutralised zone and fell off the back before the stage even kicked off.

Congrats DD! Damn your scaly hide...

I'm spent after my efforts to win the 50.

Was distracted by bacon roses and Eccles cakes and pushed too late on the line.

Congratulations to DD, a well deserved win.

Now taking it easy until the rest days...

[Sneaks up to lamp post brushes on glue from a bucket and then pastes the following notice before scurrying off to stick another identical notice on a nearby shop window]

    Official Announcement - Stage Cancellation.

Due to road works (see notice below) and to overwhelming objections from the peloton The Committee has been left with no choice but to cancel the Massif De Manning. The Committee felt that, after the Feltz, a Manning with road works was not viable. Due to ts size, shape and current state of health (i.e. dead) this massif should only be tackled in suitably adapted 4X4 vehicles.

You'll never be a proper racing cyclist with facial fungus! The extra weight and increased wind resistance will slow you more than you realise. I am an acknowledged expert in this field as I have had a beard for nearly four decades and have never won a race. I rest my case.
(The fact that I have never entered a race is immaterial) .....

You'll have to pay the latecomers entrance fee of 3 packets of Eccles cakes and 1 bunch of bacon roses payable to all current contestants.

Note that there is a two Eccles cake surcharge payable by entrants that register after stage 51.

Here is the official definition of an Eccles Cake:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eccles_cake

    Here is a recipe:
    http://www.abc.net.au/tv/cookandchef/txt/s2513009.htm

    Now master James;
As payment for furthering your shamefully inadequate education you are to practice making small batches of Eccles cakes for the next few days. When you think you have got the hang of it you are to make huge batches of them continually and distribute them to people on this thread.
We will tell you when you have baked enough.

Re: the Apple Crumble: It is not really for you to decide if your crumble is dynamite or not.
If you make a load of apple crumble and distribute that we will give our opinions and any advice deemed helpful.

[Wanders off muttering 'young folk today they don't know owt about nowt. 'Ow can anyone who rides a bike not know what an eccles cake is made of ...... ]

After the eccles cakes and apple crumble I suggest the late entry fee should be something like a bottle of 15 year old Ardbeg or a 20 year old Armagnac.
