How come you're a veggie? Did you have a particularly bad accident or something?

A single Eccles cake is a good start for a beginner, you shouldn't attempt to eat more than that if you're inexperienced as you could end up barfing. Once you can handle this then slowly increase your Eccles threshold by no more than 10% each week.

Here are a few more tips:
    • Dehydration can be a problem so drink plenty of fluids, by far the best option here is strong tea
    • Chew at the correct speed, most professionals try aim for about 90 chews per minute
    • Schedule an endurance event (E.g. two full packets of Real Lancashire Eccles cakes) so that you have something to train for
And don't forget, it's not about the cake.
  • I have never had one of these Eccles cakes either

I made an insect be dead when he flew straight into my mouth on a ride in the week. Cue coughing and spluttering but it was no use, he was gone :(

Eccles cakes are for amateurs-the Pro peloton eat Chorley cakes as they are lighter and more aero.
    Wiki-
"they are a close relative of the more widely known Eccles cake, but have some significant differences. The Chorley cake is significantly less sweet than its Eccles cousin, and is commonly eaten with a light spread of butter on top, and perhaps a slice of Lancashire cheese on the side."
Whats the solution? Just pedal faster you baby.

  • Surely winning this thread (if that is a possibility) is a greater feat than victory in all three GTs and the WC in one season?
  • Damn, I thought after weeks of hiding in the pack, conserving energy and eating copious amounts of bourbons, I'd been able to spring out and take a token stage win. Obviously I went too soon...
  • excellent intermediate stage from DD, I think I got confused by the clocks going back, by my reckoning it's tuesday.

The DS has just radio'd to say our main sponsor has withdrawn! If we want a contract next season we had better make ourselves more visible. FFS this is supposed to be a wind-down race before winter. I have no condition and no cakes.
