How's the frame wrap working out? Wearing okay and does it eliminate chain slap noise (or near enough)?

Was thinking of going the inner tube route for my Carbon 456 I've just built, but weighing a spare tube, it's 250g. I'd not normally be concerned, but part of the reason for the Carbon was to at least shave a bit of weight off. I'm not after a weight weenie, but want something reasonably light.

I've only stuck on stuff I'm reusing at the moment mainly, and it's come in at 28.8lb. My alloy Nomad is 30!

Wheels though I think are a major part of the weight. Think I can get it down to 25, 26-ish without going carbon nuts, but adding 250g for a chainstay protector seems a lot.

P.S. Pedals - Vaults. Yes, expensive as hell, but got them for the Nomad and love them, so splashed out for them on the 456 too. Flat, big pins and lots of them, thin but solid.

The frame wrap is good, I dont really notice any chainslap noise at all, I got two rolls as i done both side to prevent heal rub.

No new updates on the bike, no new wheels as yet or any other upgrades, I am just waiting to get christmas out of the way before i spend more cash. And to be honest at the mo i do not feel the need to upgrade anything, everything works and works well, i love riding the 456, i commute to work on it, i do plenty of night rides and weekend rides on it, it has become like a limb i never knew i had.

Edit: I did remove the big on one decal
  • Thats one sexy hardtail, good work!
  • Just ordered my new wheelset, Black Mavic XM719's black DB spokes with Gold hope pro evo hubs, Thoughts please?
  • Bike is looking lovely, and can't wait to see the new wheelset when it's there!
  • Just got my new XT cassette and chain today, just waiting to get the wheels now, hopefully early next week
  • New wheels arrived today, 1845g, I also got some hope skewers but have heard mixed reviews on them so I will give them ago and if i dont like them will swap back to my old shimano ones

Lol the bike has gone now, I am in the market for a new one, looking at either the 456 evo or a canyon nerve
