Phil Gil only gained 2 points on Cavendish today. Hardly seems worth the effort.
I'll look real dumb if Pip wins by one point. But this is further evidence that he's no tactician. He's a massively strong rider, but often rides less than smart.

As evidenced by his sprint to the line even when Mollema clearly wasn't going to contest it.

Gilbert should forget about the Green Jersey and try and do a GC ride. Surely he can see that the Green is a lost cause. That's between Cav and Rojas.

Funny, everyone was slagging Thor off earlier in the season for not 'doing the jersey proud'. Good win for him. Poor old Roy, he looked like he was about to cry as he crossed the line, I really wanted him to win. A podium of riders I like though, cool.

Don't you think Gilbert is after more than green jersey points? I think he fancies a top 10 GC.

Yeah but he was clearly less than happy with Garmin at start of the season and his negative riding in P-R wasn't the stuff fans want to see. Canc could have tried what he did today on Moncoutie but Thor is much stronger than that and would have managed to stay on his wheel no doubt.

He has certainly shined in the Tour so fair play to him, deserves his stage, and a great way to win it. Shame for Roy though, he also deseves one after all the attacking he has been doing.

What's the time cut off for today? I know there was a large autobus at the end - but shouldn't they all go?

A big bunch just finished 22 minutes down, with Cav in it.

He clearly has Andy Schleck worried, judging from his little whine at Tommy Voeckler and his lot.
Agree with afx. I wondered wtf he was doing with Mollema not interested.

On the whole, I think sprinting for 10th place on Wednesday might have been the easier option.

Would be incredable to see Pip get a top 10 GC while contesting the points Jersey.

Also great to see a World Champ win stages in the tour!

Do you think if Cav can win the intermediate and stage on Sunday then, based on him being in the top 2 on the Champs Élysées, he should be good for the green without having to worry about anymore intermediates?

Had a quick look at the other stages and I think there are a couple of pre climb intermediates but it's a bit worrying when Rojas can still grab points like today.

If Cav wins 2 more stages he'll be fine

Hope so. Wonder how many points Gilbert is going to pick up along the way when Cav doesn't get any?!

I got the impression that Gilbert was trying to make up time on the GC and not go for points today. Would make sense given his dig at the line.

    Only half?

Twice in the past few days, a long shot of Tommy has shown him to have a "normal" expression. However, once he was aware that the cameras were on him, he started with the gurning and grimmacing again. "Look, Ma, I'm making an effort"

  • Picked Sanchez yesterday, 20/1...100 knicker to win...knew Hushovd was gonna win it today 200 quid 20/1...

I dunno whether to go for a new Rolex or an Omega...it sure won't be a Festina...

Thor deserved every last bit of that...Moncoutie should be ashamed of himself...he had every intention of simply stealing it...and no that is not "just racing"...he blatantly wanted to sneak it and not earn it...

I know where my loot is going tomorrow, blusq haven't posted the numbers yet...will see if they are offering anything decent on my pick...

I did feel a little bit sorry for Roy, it must have been soul destroying...Hushovd knew from the second he got into the break...and so did I... :D

Until Stage 12 I would have been similarly cynical, but after that he can gurn all he likes in my book!

I've just watched last nights highlights. I think I might have a little bit of a man crush on Thor  , that was just awesome :D

I think ASO should rename it the Thor de France in his honour for the rest of this year's race!

Really felt fir Roy but class ride by Thor. Can't help feeling it is a waste of a mountain stage when Thor wins, Petacchi comes 8th and Rojas finishes in the yellow jersey group.

    Rojas can climb pretty well!

Yep but not really to the standard of the GC boys. That's why it feels like a stage wasted, if any of the GC lot had attacked Rojas would have struggled to hold on.

Climbed off on l'Aubisque, not being able to pedal. He eventually remounted and finished.
