Hoogerland is bleeding heavily, he and Flecha must be in a complete state of shock.

    I'm feeling stressed just watching.

It would explain why they were up so quickly: Adrenaline. It'll hurt more later on.

am I too cynical to suggest he won't be sacked as without French telly there isn't a race?

The two crash victims would be in a position to sue French tv for negligence under English law. Any French law experts around? The fact that's is a closed roads race is not relevant as muppet driver has clearly breached his duty of care.

They have about 10 of them in the race... carrying journos and some VIPs... Some have live commentators (radio and TV - in addition to 2 or 3 on motorbikes)...

I think Voeckler will need at least 2 minutes going into the last couple of kms because it's an uphill finish. I can see Thor losing yellow but maybe it will be one of the other contenders wearing it tomorrow.

French code provisions on tort are more or less the same as under English law/common law... But the riders/teams sign waivers.... volenti non fit injuria

Unless the car driver is Rebekah Brooks. I seriously doubt they will avoid punishment.

Interviews at the finish apparently. Hence the stupid stunt.

I don't know about French Law - but certainly under English law, if the driver has been negligent it doesn't matter how many waiver the cyclist has signed - you can't exclude your liabilty

Gilbert's going to find himself marooned amongst the also-rans if he doesn't catch the front end of the peloton pretty sharpish.

Volenti doesn't cover that sort of thing. If I am playing footie I don't consent to somebody recklessly going over the top and breaking my leg. Brad has no claim (volenti applies here I reckon)

Under English law you can under the doctrine volenti not fit injuria. Signed waiver as evidence of assumption of risk. ASO will have terms that the race is dangerous blah blah... following cars etc... You cant exclude liability for death or personal injury as a term in a commercial contract,

Great shot of the helicopter shadow keeping pace with the riders, just above them.

Volenti would protect the organiser, but you can still go after the perpetrator. In this case ASO is protected, so you would have to go after the driver and/or France 2,3,4 ...
