Finally I feel worthy of posting on this thread.
Thanks to the helpful chaps at Epic, my 2014 Equilibrium Disc is on order, Size 54.
No mods other than SKS Guards, but methinks a new saddle will be first.
Looking forward to seeing how she rides.Condor Super Acciaio, Record, Deda, Pacentis.
Curtis 853 Handbuilt MTB, XTR, DT Swiss and lots of Hope.
Genesis Datum Gravel Bike, Pacentis (again).
Genesis Equilibrium Disc, 105 & H-Plus-Son.

I have 25's on mine and there is quite a bit of clearance without guards. I would imagine that 28's would fit fairly easily. Not sure about a 32 though.
Cheers. 32s will fit. Clearance is tight, but not Rizla thin...0 -
Important question....
I've just joined the club too - well working towards it. My wife surprised me on Christmas day by swapping the Mavic Aksiums I thought were in the box next to the Xmas tree for a very shiny new Equilibrium frame!!
So. I have Mavic Aksiums (in black) to fit and the 105 set off my current bike (which will then get the Sora set it originally came with - winter bike here I come).
My question is what do you all suggest for saddle and bar tape colour? I quite like the brown the standard bike comes with but I also considered red. Just wondering what others have done. It's the cream frame by the way.2007 Trek 1.2

Good to know! What 32s did you fit?RIP commute...

Got my cream eq 20 towards the end of last year and have now done 800K. I love the colour scheme and so many people have commented on the brown bars and saddle that I wouldn't dream of changing to red. Incidentally, I find the saddle really comfy so no plans to change that anyway. The bars seem a bit narrow and less comfy than the ergo bars on my cube but nothing I can't live with.
It's a lovely looking bike and soaks up big pot hole hits beautifully. Incredibly well behaved descending although the overall ride a bit more sedate than I'm used to.0 -

Durano + 32c and a Winter spiked tyre 30c. You could prob get a 32c CX tyre in too, but mud clearance would be poor.
I take it a short drop caliper (39-49mm) won't quite mate with the breaking surface on the front wheel?0 -

Correct, needs to be a long drop. Some have upgraded to the shimano ones, I have got better versions of the 2013 standard ones with swisstop pads on.RIP commute...

Is anyone running the disc equilibrium? If so how does it compare to the non disc version?
thanks0 -

Thanks for the comment. Looks like it might be brown.
I'm undecided on saddles at present. Erring towards a Brooks (the plan is to have a mid-high end audax bike) so sedateness isn't really an issue over spending long hours in the saddle (it'll get me to work too). Having never bought a saddle for myself unless it came attached to a bike I'm not entirely sure where to start. The Selle Italia I bought for my wife last year is quite comfy so might go for the mens version of that although haven't spent more than setting up time on her bike and not sure if they do brown.
I could always see if Genesis (or LBS) will sell me a stock saddle I suppose but as I'm free to decide it seems like I should shop around a bit.2007 Trek 1.2

Not sure how the brown saddle compares but the stock saddle on my 2010 Genesis Aether and on my mate's Equilibrium (2012 I think) both went in exactly the same way, one of the rails snapped/sheared through. Admittedly neither of us are lightweights (especially not me) and in my case it saw fairly heavy (ehhh) use, but even assuming you could acquire a genesis saddle without buying a full bike, you might want to look at something else.0

Don't be in a rush to change the stock saddle without giving it a try. If you've got a good bike fit you may find it perfectly comfy, I do.0 -
I have a stock saddle that I'd take an offer on if you want to stay original. Used in for a few months, but it just wasn't quite right for me so I had an excuse to go over to a Brooks.0

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind. Heading down the LBS with a shopping list tomorrow so I'll see what they can do first.2007 Trek 1.2

If you are thinking about leather saddles like a Brooks then you might want to look at Spa Cycles' range of leather saddles which are good value and mostly have a brown version. Some are fairly wide and geared towards touring, etc., but the Wharfe (£40) and Aire (£45) are narrower and more sporty and there is even a Ti rail version of the Aire, (though it is £80). I have a Wharfe on my Equilibrium now and even though it is still quite hard after 600 miles I find it as comfortable as a Brooks B17N. Quality

Isn't the stock saddle just an unbadged madison prime?0

Covered just short of 5000miles on my equilibrium now, absolutely love it still.
Took the advice on this thread and changed the brakes to r650s and to Koop stop pads, braking is significantly improved thanks. The original rear wheel died a slow painful death, I lost count of the spokes I replaced and the hub finally died as I didn't service it because I knew I was going to replace it. I now have open pros on hopes.
Happy with the mud guards now I tracked down some decent mud flaps, found a shop selling raceblade long flaps that fit straight onto the 35mm chromoplastics.
New saddle and tape next, might change colour.0 -
It does seem crazy that they don't have rack mounts on the seatstays. Looks like a god setup you have there.0

If anyone is still trawling the internet in search of one of last years Equlibrium 20s in 'Burnt Copper' the shop I work at has one, size 56. Cyclefleet in Great Missenden. 01494 868607

So has anyone here got the equilibrium disc and what do they think of it? I am curious as to how it compares to the kaffenback 20

Generally the Equilibrium seems better in every way on paper (apart from reflective paintwork), but it is almost twice as expensive, so that is to be expected.
Having bought a Kaff 2, I will be getting dynamo lighting, new rims (the same ones as the Equilibrium) AND a wheelset for my fixie and it will all still be cheaper than the Equilibrium.
I've never ridden the Equilibrium but it looks like a very good bike, I just don't think its very good value for money (compared to the Kaff).FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

Have to agree. I built up a better specced version for about £200 less than I could buy a whole bike for.Basso Astra

Well, there you go, didn't know there was a bike shop in Missenden
I rather liked the copper one, but 56 is too big and can't justify the money...other than that...
It's just a hill. Get over it.0 -

Hi all. Has anyone found a good touch up paint match for the cherry red Equilibrium?
Cheers
