That just about killed me. Had him for the stage at 22/1. Thought it was another Astana on the break there!!!:lol::lol:

Nice 2 lots of PTP points in the space of 10 mins. Slightly negates the fact that Basso has pulled out :x

Seeldraeyers probably looking behind to see who was coming across managed to cross wheels with Ivanov and skillfuly attacked into the ditch........almost worthy of my own race tactics.

Stage 4 today, and probably the most decisive day. Just getting into the climbs now, with 40 km to go... Albasini, Julien Sanchez and Maxim Belkov up the road, but going nowhere. Euskaltel leading the chase.

Same route as last year, too.

Better than my Gesink, who currently looks like a punchdrunk boxer getting battered in the 12th round.

Samu takes the stage for the second year in a row.

    Well.
    Pais Vasco.
All that climbing and the net gain since Monday.................nil.
    Very, very surprising indeed.
So, it looks like it will take Kloden to fall off during the 24km ITT to lose.
Vino, Horner and maybe an on trialing form Gesink for the lower rungs.

Basso pulled out due to a dramatic decrease in form most likely related to illness:

Hi there (long time no post).

From the helicopter shot you could see that Sammy got his winning gap because Andy Schleck couldn't hold his wheel through the corners at the end of that descent. Kloden had to come round Schleck, and by that time Sanchez had 4 bike lengths.

    Cheers, Andy

Watched the highlights last night, why were all the first group given the same time? Sammy looked at least a second clear of the others

True, but riders are allowed to ride in front of a Schleck when there are corners and/or descents coming up.

Albasini, Cataldo and Seeldraeyers at 4:10 from peloton.
No major climbing today, the last cat 3 is nothing fancy but with only tomorrows TT to go J-Rod needs to do something, as you can't see him doing anything there.

I told myself that if Oscar (my PTP pick) won today, it would be a sign to back Oscar Time in the Grand National tomorrow. The 'Spanish Cyclist Method' has worked before on the National - NumbersixValverde won a couple of years ago.

    Don't say I didn't warn you.

Apparently, getting a shove on your way is against the rules.
Twice in 2 years, Oscarito gets the Basque boot.

Bugger! Not that it will make much PTP difference as I think 90% of people picked him!
