He wasn't on the startlist for the Ronde.

    Fair enough.

I'm guessing - normally he rides it.

I must admit I would have imagined he was there too, had I not seen the Pais Vasco ticker.

Indeed, he even rode a strong E3.

Anyway, enough classics chat. This is a stage race!

Ricks a wanna-be Flandrian - He doesn't like those nasty Walloon races.

Does anyone do Flanders, go to Pais Vasco and then back for Roubaix these days?
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

Can't be donig with races which might as well be a hill race after 4hrs on the turbo (the Walloonian arrow anyone?)...

Anyway, in short Ian, I doubt many people do.

Enjoying the camera work from the middle of the peloton on this one.

When you think about it, there are stages in stage races where only 30 or so riders have any intention of doing anything on that given day.

    2.37 with 33km to go.

Mad dash up and down the final climb.

Euskatel (unsurprisingly) and Cervelo doing the chasing.

The only possibility is Maxim Iglinsky - he was a DNF in Flanders yesterday and is down on the startlist for Vasco today, though I don't know if he actually made it. Haven't seen any startlist for next Sunday yet either.

I hadn't realized that UK Eurosport had been taken over by radio 4...............

Currently NO pictures getting through and they are about on the last climb.

Eurosport have talked like they were a magazine programme.

    Is that weather related?

Highlights on BE1 at 20.30 allegedly.

:D .......I didn't mean the 'GIRLS' bit literally no!.....as for the walking bit-yep.....narrow 25% type kick right at the top of the climb. They were all just grinding up, somebody must've ground to a halt and its just a domino effect then, with nobody having anywhere to go! A reasonably large number of riders had to unclip and run the final yards of the climb!

76 year old Horner once again looks to be in super Basque form.

That was a brutal last climb, Martin etc. walking indeed, I thought Horner looked like he was about to fall off! Good stuff and a tidy win from J-Rod.

Just watched it back again, Horner looking stronger than my last comment suggests to be fair. The crowds were immense too. Yes, Martin, Porte, Barredo and 3 others I could see walking. The Schlecks way back also.
