Chavanel's big mistake was waiting for Boonen at the finish - if he'd sat on Nuyens he would have probably taken the sprint.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Yea he was brilliant today , last year on the Tour cobbled stage he finished 2nd so maybe he is in with a shout for next week.Gasping - but somehow still alive !0 -
Surely can't be long until we see a big win for Thomas, looks stronger and stronger each year.0

Pointless and unambitious acquisition by Saxo Bank, smacks of desperation

Still giggling at Vaughters' radio exchange.Open radios to the public and listen to your favourite team and what they are doing.
Garmin? Not much.0 -
In fairness to Nuyens - he's always had the talent. Sporza are always gonig on about him, and they're always disapointed with his mental strength.
Now he shows how good he really is.0 -

Gilbert should have the rainbow stripes. At least he knows how to honour them.Contador is the Greatest0

Nuyens just seemed to be a wheel sucker today. I can understand that in a 3 week GT but a one day race is about taking the bull by the horns and doing it yourself.
Fabian did an awesome job, attacking that much and on the limit for 60Km, now that is showing balls!! That is pure class! I'm sorry to say that Nuyens showed no class today. Congrats on him winning but me personally would rather win by showing I'm the strongest rather then just wheel sucking all day.

S'what happens when you race for third....
When JV said "do not ride" I think they must have taken him a bit too literally.0 -

FF - If you just want the strongest rider to win all the time watch TT's and/or track racing. Road racing (and particularly the classics) has other factors for riders to contend with.0

Doing it for yourself = doing what it takes to cross the line in 1st place, which is exactly what he did.
I predict Cancellara won't be attacking from 50 km out next week.0 -

That was a great race! Really enjoyed that. At first I thought Chavanel might just get it, then it looked like Cancellara had it in the bag, then Gilbert, then I was hoping Thomas might do something, then Cancellara or Chavanel again! Great stuff. And well done Nuyens! Not the strongest man on the day, but crossed the line first and that's all that matters!
Have to say though, what was Boonen doing at Haaghoek? OK an attack is fair enough, but he takes Cancellara and Pozzato with him, so should immediately sit up. Cancellara was obviously just going to attack him and Pozzato sit on his wheel!
And also great move from Devolder. On and off the back all day and then disrupts the chase by attacking to bridge a gap of about a minute?
Now looknig forward to Roubaix!

An extra 25 PTP points says he will attack from 30-40 Km out and totally destroy the rest of the riders.***** Pro Tour Pundit Champion 2020, 2018, 2017 & 2011 *****0 -
There are wins and there are wins. Nuyens got a win. If you mention Flanders 2011 2 years from now, people wont remember him.Contador is the Greatest0

I believe that a one day race is about cycling tactically and putting yourself in the best position to win. Cancellara rode to his strength, the ability to output a huge amount of power for a long time. It wasn't about balls, it was about the best way to try to win. It didn't come off, largely due to the fantastic job Chav did of holding his wheel.
Nuyens played it brilliantly. Put himself in the right position and finished the job.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

I don't think Nuyens will care. He won the Tour of Flanders today, what did you do?0 -

It was a top race, with a great finish. Just being stronger than everyone else isn't enough. I'll remember this one far longer than any predictable "Fab rides off the front and puts two minutes into everyone".Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
Well done Nuyens - I understand what he did isn't (ahem) to everyone's taste - but he had to be there to win it. And he was.
I was getting really excited when I saw Thomas come back in - I thought "oh my god, the most unlikely PTP points win EVER!" Then Nuyens one. Good riding though G and a good ride for Big George - shows he's still got legs. Ballan did well today too I thought, Chavanel obviously, Cancellera a given - so many things to enjoy.
On the downside - "ride for 3rd guys, ride for 3rd" Boooooooooollllll shheeeyyyyyyyytttttt.

From the "strongest classics team" their lack of ambition is really disappointing.
Also on G I think today he struggled a bit on the climbs but was very impressive on the flat so hopefully we can expect even better things at Roubaix.
And Cancellara is human.0
