  • Sweet!

Get it bought and get over here
  • Hoping to get over soon actually. Would have to be Degla again I'm afraid as it's about the only place I can reasonably manage on a day tip.

I can't wait too, looks great and will be even better with the added green bits. I'd love to ride one

You should stay with Sheepsteeth's mum.

Where does she live, I don't think it's been mentioned before?

Pastey, GD Turbo £240 from CRC for the Turbo version with the remote.

Limited for choice because of the size I needed, that and the fact almost everywhere is sold out of these and the KS I7s. Unless you want a 3" drop, which seems a bit pointless.

If I had a seatpost of 30.8 or above, I'd have gone for a reverb.

She lives in Rhyl. Which is roughly 30 minutes from Llandegla.
Or my sister, who lives ten minutes from llandegla. But, her husband might kick off about that

just found out that gd do a 30.9 post with 5inch drop. gonna order direct from the states. i like the simplicity of the gd, the reverb looks good but lots to go wrong and 1/4 pound heavier. plus i like the fact the gd's remote cable isnt gonna rape my paint work.

  • UK Bike store have the 30.9s in stock. You'll almost certainly get is cheaper as you say from the states though.

I did initially go for the KS I7 with a green remote kit, but I've read more bad things about the KS than I have about the GD. Thought it made sense to play t

just found the reverb for £205 posted from germany, good price but as ive said theres a lot to go wrong and no real feedback from users yet. can get a ks950 for £152 posted, used the 900i on my mmmbop and loved it, just watched a vid on the gravity dropper site and the turbo post looks like it will castrate you if you raise your saddle at the wrong moment. may just stick with what i know plus the colour upgrade kits look nice.
p.s did you know raceface do green atlas cranks ? wiggle have some.

  • Haha, The turbo certainly lives up to its name. Don't think it comes up with enough force behind it to do any damage though.
I knew you'd be the one who started suggesting shiny green stuffs.
I had seen the Atlas cranks, but went with SLX because I'm already using green pedals and green rollers for the bash.
Don't think it needs any more green now anyway tbh.

that turbo post has nad bruising potential. as for your bike not needing anymore colour, im pretty sure all the forum members know whats gonna happen with this bike. your a serial bike pimper tis in your blood, you wont stop until it sparkles like a christmas tree. you may as well buy a new frame to put all the old bionicon bits on

looks like a good plan CWNT

what size seat clamp did you get in the end?

i want a green one but i am going to leave my colour coding at stinger, grips and seat collar.
  • I went for 34.9 in the end. Did you ever get round to checking your clamp?
I spoke to square wheels and they said the one they had in the shop there was 35mm, but the guy didn't sound like he was entirely sure what I was on about. I guess it's not a question they get too often :P

It can always go back if it's the wrong size.

Love bionicon bikes. That linked suspension system just seems like a brilliant way to get a bike feeling right for ups and downs.

Is there any other maker with a similar system at the moment?

The Bionicon clamp is a 35mm one but plenty of people, including myself, are running 34.9mm ones, so you're good to go.

just realised the difference. It's all about the air from the forks being moved to the rear shock, so you've got a better climbing position. very clever
  • Just to clarify getonyourbike. The Bionicons are not actually travel adjust at the rear, only the fork travel changes.

The rear shock has a sleeve that extends out when you drop the front, keeping the BB at the same height but more to the rear. This also changes the seat angle (and head angle obv) to make it steeper (better for climbing).

Also, you need to remember that all this is done using the "magic button" mounted on the bars, so it's all done on the fly. Simple push of a button and weight over the front to drop it, push the putton and lean back to extend it again.

It is a monumentally clever system.

I also like the fact that it takes 10mins to do a full service on the forks, and it's all done at home using tools everyone has.

i'm going to be honest and say that the bionicons are not the nicest bikes out there. but the technology is really market leading, it's just very clever and very useful
