I am helping my BiL fix his roof tomorrow. Despite being a Libran neither of us are creatures of the air. Wish us luck.

As a military type person you might like to know that the shape of the V2 was just a German sniper's bullet (can't remember the calibre) scaled up and fins added for stability.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

My son's hamster died on Wednesday. Then, curiously, my daughter's hamster died yesterday. They were similar ages, but lived in separate cages, in different rooms. It's quite intriguing that they died so close together. (I did check they weren't just 'hibernating'.)0

In other news, my nice bottle of red was a bit sour but the wife's out with her mates tonight so I drank it anyway. It improves with age - after an hour or so & 3 glasses it's fine. A bit like the wife indeed.

The SA80 is a useless example of a Bullpup firearm and is 5.56mm calibre which is .223 of an inch which is why cadets can use a .22 conversion on the ranges.0
-
It may not be a brilliant weapon, but I'm sure if you were stood at the loud end, with it loaded with it's childsize bullets and handled by someone who didn't like you, you wouldn't call it useless then!FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

Japanese snipers WWII used .22 I believe - the amount of ammunition you can carry is colossal...
(Guns & Ammo thread conversion...)"Consider the grebe..."0 -
When it comes to sniping, I thought the idea of using a large calibre bullet is that even if you 'wing' someone, they'll be wandering around the battlefield looking for their arm whilst they bleed out.
With a .22 a shot in exactly the same position would be a 'mere flesh wound' and the target would be saying "Felt nowt" and calling in an airstrike on your position.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future
