I'm thinking of buying two new frying pans - I already have five not counting the griddle and wok.

I am helping my BiL fix his roof tomorrow. Despite being a Libran neither of us are creatures of the air. Wish us luck.

If I'm really lucky, it will rain

As a military type person you might like to know that the shape of the V2 was just a German sniper's bullet (can't remember the calibre) scaled up and fins added for stability.

My son's hamster died on Wednesday. Then, curiously, my daughter's hamster died yesterday. They were similar ages, but lived in separate cages, in different rooms. It's quite intriguing that they died so close together. (I did check they weren't just 'hibernating'.)

Was it suicide? If one had hung itself in despair at it's friend's death, it would be the very definition of hamstrung.

Anyway. Look East is due along soon.

I just completed 10 years with my employer - got £500 in vouchers - might put it towards a new bike.

My pager has been replaced by a smaller model, however it still looks like it from the late 1980's.

I think the OP would be more interested in 7.62mm.

Useless info. The SA80 is an example of a Bullpup firearm.

Nik - that is just priceless. Cheers.

In other news, my nice bottle of red was a bit sour but the wife's out with her mates tonight so I drank it anyway. It improves with age - after an hour or so & 3 glasses it's fine. A bit like the wife indeed.

    Boom-tish. Tickets still available.

    Useless information alert:

The dish at Jodrell Bank was the first place on Earth to receive a man-made signal from space (Sputnik).

The SA80 is a useless example of a Bullpup firearm and is 5.56mm calibre which is .223 of an inch which is why cadets can use a .22 conversion on the ranges.

It may not be a brilliant weapon, but I'm sure if you were stood at the loud end, with it loaded with it's childsize bullets and handled by someone who didn't like you, you wouldn't call it useless then!

  • Japanese snipers WWII used .22 I believe - the amount of ammunition you can carry is colossal...

When it comes to sniping, I thought the idea of using a large calibre bullet is that even if you 'wing' someone, they'll be wandering around the battlefield looking for their arm whilst they bleed out.
With a .22 a shot in exactly the same position would be a 'mere flesh wound' and the target would be saying "Felt nowt" and calling in an airstrike on your position.

I saw we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
