So what is everyone looking to achieve cycling wise in 2011?

I have a few things on the agenda, but #1 is a start in the UCI Road World Cup paracycling event in Sydney, May 2011.

Getting outdoors on the bike would be a good start. Another 10cm of snow this morning!

For the rest of the year I'm hoping to make some inroads with the local club scene, get out on group rides and compete in some road races with them. I also want to be finishing well in a number of Sportives I've entered and a gold medal time, around 8hrs,for La Marmotte.

Better get back out to the garage and keep spinning then......

#1 is a start in the UCI Road World Cup paracycling event in Sydney, May 2011.

Not to belittle your goal in any way, but as it's a home race, you guys can pretty much enter as many riders as you want! (The Spaniards do that in the Segovia race). But you are REALLY good so is it just politics?

We *should* be coming to AUS for that race - but the distance and cost will mean only the best of the best will do it. It's one of my main motivations this year to get there as I've never been to AUS and have always wanted to go!

As an aside - do you know Cameron Muir at all? C2 AUS rider. Met him in Canada. (And should meet you in Sydney!)

    Anyway - my season goals:

Top 3 in UCI Paracycling Track World Championships (top 5 realistic)
Top 5 in UCI Paracycling Road World Cup TIme Trial (Top 10 in Road Race)
Top 3 in UCI Paracycling Road World Championships Time Trial (Top 5 in Road Race)
Win Grand Prix of Wales Track Championships Kilo and Pursuit
Top 3 in any TLI Race
Top 10 in any BC Race
23 minute Club 10 TT (from 24:13 last year)
    Sub-60 Club 25 TT
    And to reach 75KG!!
  • To do my first race and proper TT, then see what happens after that.

Is there a Nobel prize for cycling? I'll go for that too.

Well first and foremost my immediate goal is to finish a race. I'm not fussed about position, but just finishing will mean a lot to me. I'd love to get up to Cat 3, but starting racing this season i'm not sure how realistic that goal is.

To get fitter - continue getting lighter - and try to find some form of competitive cycling that suits me!

Just enjoy cycling really. I suppose a specific goal would be to enjoy road races enough to do more than the three I did this year (a couple of podium finishes would be the icing) and to ride a decent number of sportives (lets say at least 4).

2, As close to the hour as poss for a 25TT
    3, Sub 5hr for the Norwich100
4, Enter the Gas Hill challenge in june
    5, Lose 15kg(see goal no.4)
  • The main thing i want to do is get in the Guernsey Island Games team but that depends of what others do as much as myself.
    Other things are
Finish a Premier Calendar or two.
Get some good results in National B races(podium or win would be mega)
Get some top 10s in Belgian Kermesses if I go over again
    Be competitive in France.

The main focus of my season is to get some good enough results to get in a Team for the 2012 season.

Show a general improvement in riding, ride well up the Mortirolo in the Granfondo Pantani, then the Pantani Memorial Sportive up Les Duex Alpes in August.
  • 1 - Get out for some quality miles every weekend.
2 - Commute all week without copping out for the car.
3 - Convince my wife I need a new bike.
    4 - Lose more weight.
5 - Get better at hills (directly related to No.4!)
6 - Race (maybe, we'll see how it goes).

Not got any real aims timewise, just hope these improve, but I will aim to..

Retain my KCA 12 Hour TT and Best All Rounder Titles

Get into the top 10 of the Britain's Best All Rounder

Top 15 placing in the National 50m TT
Top 5 placing in the National 100m TT

Another aim is to go one place higher in the Beacon RC LMTT

    Sub hour 25.
    Finish the Beacon RC LMTT!
See Markos at the gas Hill Challenge!...
    Drop another 5kgs...

Times are plucked out of the air... as long as I better all this seasons times, I'll be happy... ish!!!
Going to have a pop at 50 TT's, maybe try a hundred, too.

    * Conquer Blaze Hill repeatedly, reliably and With Style! by beginning of June
    * Enter and finish in top 66% on 3 different 100km sportives throughout the year
    * gain some track accreditation even if it is just moving from the taster session

I would say if you can do a sub 22 min 10 you can def do a sub 1 hour 25.

    For reference I am on a 22.55 for a 10 and 56.35 for a 25.

... coincidentally my aim is sub 22 min 10 this year :D

I was thinking the same thing. 25mph = 24 minutes for a 10, so you should easily get under the hour if you can do that kind of 10 time.
