Don't worry, I've sent Boardman a tweet. I fully expect him to unleash his html skills ASAP.

Just hypothetically, if one or all of the breakaway riders managed to get round the lap before the peloton joined the circuit, would they be able to join the peloton and effectively get a rest or would they be segregated? If they joined the peloton and could get dragged round who knows what might happen? Still can't see it actually playing out like that though.

See above, it's down to the commisaires...
The key issue is that they need to be kept separate from the other group, which might be tricksy!

I'm falling asleep here, what's the ETA on the finish? I may set my alarm.

That was my concern, how to separate two groups of very different numbers on fairly narrow roads.

However looking at the timing the peloton will be a few minutes ahead (of being a lap down) by the time they enter the circuit I think.

Also, massive amounts of respect to Hasanovic for keeping that effort up!

Looks quite hot out there. Fair to say he's stuck in limbo.

GB "man-at-side-of-the-road" announces 'No follow cars' that could make it interesting over the next few laps.

Everyone stopping to pee already

You mean the racers or the viewers doing an all-nighter?
  • You often get a 15-20 minute break in Milan-Sanremo, but how often do they survive to the finish? Never.

It would make a final bunch sprint even more likely though, provided the break keeps working together to stay away (which they aren't doing at the moment).

The breakaway is dying a death now.

I have changed my mind. Best jersey-Belgium. Without the quickstep sponsorship though.

Split in the peloton, Cav missing apparantly.

Yeah, with the numbers and quality of riders missing it'll be back together no doubt.

I still think the 4 guys in front have a shot. They are only losing 2 minutes a lap and the peleton will really need to work hard to bring them back before the end.

It's going to be closer than you might think. Unless they simply burn out.

I think the burn out is bound to happen, they'll eventually lose 4-5 minutes in a lap and it'll be gone.

Correction - they are only losing a minute a lap at the current rate. That will give them a HUGE buffer if the pack don't speed up soon.
  • Couple of riders dodging round the back of the soigneurs at the feed -- very dangerous, should someone step backwards at the wrong moment.
