No wonder Alvaro Pino said he was quitting and the sponsor subsequently got out.

There have been rumours mucho grande about Mosquera but we'll see, Spanish radio seems to be reporting this and they can be a bit heated at times, although they can be very well informed too.
  • Why on earth do they drop bombs like this in the middle of the Worlds. These guys should have some tact.

It is a grim day indeed and I couldn't agree more FF.
  • It is just anti-Spanish sentiment in the labs!

Why not? If they are caught cheating do you want the news to be hushed up until a quiet day in December?

That's a quick turn around - has a B sample positive been done?

    Doh!

    Grrr.
  • Is there anything official on this or is it all rumour at the moment? Any idea what the riders involved have tested positive for?

Ouch. That's not just any old team mate, 11th in the Vuelta - it's the team's nrs 1 and 2

There's no issue with Ricco I'm aware of?

Aside from wishful thinking of course.

Sure, although better homework could have prevented a lot. No worries though - there might be a bunch of Danish riders coming on the market soon

If Vacansoleil get in trouble, serves them right. Mosquera had a terrible repuation and they clearly didn't ask too many questions. Instead they wanted to buy themselves a seat at the top table in a hurry, rather than patiently build a solid team. Now this looks as if it's backfiring.

Masking agent - must have got there accidently as why would he risk his health deliberately and how could the benefit possibly outweigh the risk

I feel sorry for the organisers of the Vuelta. It was a fantastic race that went down to the wire - probably the best Vuelta in a long time. This positive test will tarnish the race at a time when it is effectively fighting to regain lost ground on the other two grand tours.

Can't say I'm particularly surprised by this one. I mean - who didn't watch that race and think that it was only a matter of time until the positive result was announced.

Many of us said it at the time. Now it's (sort of) confirmed.
