My 5 year old Marin Eldridge Grade has just just cracked on the seat tube.
That's the bad news, the good news is Marin are replacing it under warranty and the new version looks much better. Gotta love Marin. :D

A ride a 1999 Marin Bobcat trail that a ride to work everyday on. It has all original parts apart from the consumables (tyres, chain grips, brake pads - and the rear wheel cos some scum bag stole it) However I would never ride it off road, geometry is all wrong, BB too low, bars too narrow, too steep head angle, makes for a good commuter with slicks on though.

My Madone 5.9 road bike is 5 years old, keep meaning to replace it, but there's always something else to spend money on! Still goes pretty well, looks a bit tired in places though.

my trek 1200T road bike, nice light ally frame, carbon forks, does the job, nothing more needed for me from a road bike

  • I have a HARO EX0 Extreme from like 10 years ago! had my worst spill on that beast.. :(
  • Got a 93 Kona Cindercone that I still use to commute on and the occasional offroad jaunt - I absolutely love the bike. :D Keep considering getting a proper road bike but there's no need as long as I can keep this one going.

Only just had to change the original bottom bracket and rear wheel this year...
  • All my bikes are older than 5 years

2003 GT Avalanche 1.0 is my main ride and will be replaced in the new year.
1994 GT Timberline FS was my main ride when I was 16... I gave it away to a friend but recently reacquired it and did it up... I ride this now when I take a friend out cycling or if I just fancy a ride round the park.

and earlier this week someone gave me a 1989 Saracen Tufftrax that is in nice condition... I'll be giving this a clean and maybe putting some semi-slicks on it.

I joined Retrobike because my bikes seem to fit in there :D

1995 steel Giant Yukon, bought it as a pub bike and have spent far to much time and effort making it run well/look good  .

retrotastic silver and purple anodised bits, its a little stretched out but a nice ride for xc trips out and the commute.

i've got some better wheels to stick on it and once these are on i'll take it offroad properly and put it though its paces

also have a 1999 GT avalanch frame: next project.

Strange that, they're normally quite welcoming over there and a few bikes are the wrong colour.

My Timberline has one piece of every 90s groupset from Alivio through to LX and nobody complained hehe.

Maybe caught them on an off day?

It started off OK but when I put some pictures up it kind of went downhill  :)

I gave up on sourcing period 90s components several years ago and replace old with very new when I can. Do you use your Timberline much?

As long as they're getting ridden, I don't really care whether it's with period parts or modern stuff. Better than sat in a shed rusting!

I get out on the Timberline about once a month... I don't really push it anymore as it's still on the original cassette, chainset, rims... They're a bit tired now as I was quite a keen cyclist as a teenager. It did thousands of miles back then. It's nice to ride on a steel frame now and then.

I was looking at one of these when i bought my F700 dale.. Glad i went with the dale as it turned out to have the same frame ashton was hitting at the time, and i went into to street riding.

But the flex still has a special place in my memories as i use to drool over them in the bike shop hehe

Thewaylander: my mate at the time had an F700 it was ace. He swapped it for a Super V Raven which was the absolute 'bomb' back then.

Kaytronika: The original cassette? They don't make 'em like that any more eh? :)

Not at all, the freehubl must be on it's last legs too but it's easily outlasted the Avalanche's Deore freewheel... That did less than 500 milee.

Thanks gets quite light use now, hence the slicks, but still on original running gear, including Mighty Biopace chainrings.
Only really bad bit are the brakes. Dead hands after a few hours.
I also have a Muddy Fox from the same era. Much better frame, but currently in bits and rusting away.
    Wouldn't mind that Proflex though.

The old girl was in semi-retirement a few years ago but this last twelve months I have used her more than ever. She is most excellent at 'threading the needle' through Cannock's closely-packed trees, less so on some sections of the Monkey  :)

  • Still got my 2004 GT Aggressor, this bike got me back into biking and still love riding it. It's been pimped up though over the years and now use mainly for cycling to work. The only problem is the back tyre keeps going flat, and I can't for christ figure out why! (replaced tubes, tyres, rim tape etc)

Got a Rocky Mountain hardtail from 96, steel tange prestige. Bought it second hand in 97, my first ever proper mountain bike, never knew what model it actually was. Can't bear to part with it and it is still in daily use as a single speed rigid commuter. Looks luvverly in metallic british racing green with black forks.

Im riding a pretty old (6+ years old) Giant Boulder custom build.

V-Brakes on the back, Cable Disks on the front. Front mech no longer works, but the chain rings are missing teeth on the large cog, and the inner one is very bent, so the middle it is. The Rear mech doesnt work too well and the front shifter is bust too, rear shifter works perfectly.

Did upgrade to Tora 302's when On-One were throwing them away, and stuck a new headset in there too.

Oh, and it has a Thompson Masterpiece in there, the irony of the seatpost being about the same price as the rest of the bike put together.

Still, it gets me around and will do till i can afford a new bike
