Right, it finally, after a month of procrastinating, begins in earnest.
10kg by April. Currently 92.0 -
I've had 3 weeks off the sauce and have added swimming twice a week to help me lose the stone I gained over the summer. Weigh in tomorrow morning, although I'm not overly confident...0

A month ago weighed in at 95kg. This morning weighed in at 86kg (down 9kg). Goal weight by March is 77kg so 9kg more to go.0

Weight 2 years ago was pushing 13 stone - 36" waist
Got into commuting to work by bike. The got my Cycle to work road bike about 6 weeks ago.
Anyway cut out the crisps ,(most) chocolate & genreal crap. if I felt hungry I snak on nuts fruit etc.
Watched my portion sizes (did you know plate sizes have increased approx. 30 % in the last 30 years!)
Took carrots & tomatoes in my luch box incase I was feeling peckish
Upshot is that now I weigh 10 Stone 6 Pounds 4 ounces (66 Kilos)
I weigh myself everyday (yes I know but I cannot help it)
I find a really good way of losing weight is camping. We went to Belgium in the summer for 10 days and because there is no tempation from the cupbaords etc I went from 11 stone 4 to 10 stone 10 and then I shifted the extra 4 pounds slowly until now.
Downside is that now I feel the cold a bit more

it's less calorific than lager though. I've limited myself to two visits to the pub a week - enjoy it loads more, and three pints and I'm anyone's.
11st gives me a BMI of about 24 so I'm fine but still have some flab round the midriff and - at the risk of sounding precious - have always wanted to shed that extra 6-8lbs and get the body fat ratio right down ... but that's the toughest bit to budge.Specialized Allez 240 -
5'11" and 118kg at the moment but that's an improvement on the 140kg I was in May 2009.
I'm doing LEJOG in June and would like to get down to 78kg eventually - just joined myfitnesspal to keep track of things.0 -
19.4kg lost 24.6kg to gogoing downhill slowly0

Just 1/2 lb this week....
I think the scales were reading a bit light last week...(3lb did seem a bit too much for the calorie deficit I had)

3.2kg loss for me this week but I have been full of flu and totally off my food.
I need to make sure I don't over eat now once my appetite is back.0 -
I'll have some of this aswell.
Ive gone from 80kg In April 2010 to 91kg Dec 2010
Stress related weight gain. Too much Choc, Beer, Fatty Foods & not exercising.
Plan to cut out as much fat & sugar as possible & stick to complex carbs, protine, veg.
My recent training plan was derailed due to injury & then a combo of bad weather & crashing off my bike.
My main goal is to reduce body fat. So hopefully the turbo trainer ive just ordered will make this more convenient & safer.
Ill check back in a week.
Keep up the training chaps.

Deadline: By end of Feb 20110 -
Some useful advice on this thread. I'm hoping to lose a few kg before Christmas, so far on target . Thing is how do you know what a sensible weight is? I'm keen to be at my best for 2011 but as a TTer i don't want to lose power by shedding too much weight.0

I have entered Nove Colli next May and need to loose weight to help me get up those hills!
Currently I am 92 Kg and aim to be 82Kg, so best part of 5months to loose 10Kg. It feels achievable but any advice gratefully accepted!

Age 480 -
Well - I'm new here folks, and I have bought a bike to help my weight loss - rather than the other way round.
I spent several years at college cycling everyday, it was my preferred means of travel, a tool and a hobby but I never joined a club or did anything organised. At the time I was very fit and active.
Move on some 25 years and my weight had crept up to over 18 stone. I'd never even tried to change it, and really only had the vaguest of ideas what I did weigh. Since March I have lost over 3.5 stone and am now 14 stone 8. I have lost fairly consistently a pound a week.
In the intervening years I have done some leisure cycling, all very sedate on a mountain bike. I began to do some more miles to help my weight loss, decided I liked it and bought a road bike (allez elite.)
So here I am with a new bike and some bits ordered from Santa, shoes, pedals, lights, tights etc. Looking to find out what I can do with my bike now. I've entered the etape Caledonia, which gives me a goal to train for, but really need to join a club and find some more people. I'm a bit baffled by all the different types of competitive cycling. I'd like to try something - but I've no idea what if anything would suit me.

I was nearly 95kg 5 months ago. Am now hovering around 82-83kg depending on time of day, meals etc. 1.87cm tall, 36.
When I was heavier I didn't feel overweight, or look it. But I was, and it was all water bound up with the sugar-built carbs. Have a quick look at this site which explains a few basics.
The pattern described in that article is exactly what I went through. I used to think nothing of scoffing a packet of biscuits a day, plus a chocolate bar or two and crisps (on top of three full meals). It all added up to a load of water stored in the body.
After deciding to give it a good go on the bike, I really sweated. I remember one ride that was literally and metaphorically a watershed - I have nevr sweated like that before or since. It was like I was in a shower, it was pouring off me. Like most people starting out, this water loss gave me a huge initial boost in weight loss, since then it's been a lot slower. But at first, if you put the effort in, you'll see massive results. Keeping this weight off is then a matter of discipline and eating right.
I long for a nice big bowl of Pringles. Curse you processed food, with your easy highs and instant gratification.0
