I'm curious as to what my new FGSS commuter weighs, it does seem very light even with the alu frame and heavy wheels.

Think i need a set of expensive digital scales
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
  • This thread is so old has my old big hybrid in it. Anyhow Revolution Track 10 with Marathon plus/paniers etc. is 34lb/15kg.

Doesn't feel that heavy and it's faster than my old road bike that had gears and lighter.

My 60cm Kona Jake with M+, guards, rack, lock, lights and saddlepack with tool and tubes weighed in at 14.5kg. Makes that tricross look light.
    Haven't weighed the others yet.
  • My old steel-framed Raleigh tourer comes in at a shade over 13kg "bare", but with lock, lights and ever-present tool kit it's probably 15-16kg. Not light by any means, but not bad for a big, comfortable bike.

    "Digital scales just arrived"

    Carbon Centaur Ribble Sportive = 7.955Kg / 17.537lbs
    Dolan FGSS = 8.925kg / 19.67lbs

Damn this Alexa wheels must be really heavy, i need an upgrade surely!?

    Changed seatpost - added weight
Swapped LOOK Keo for Speedplay X2 - minus weight
changed Carbon centaur std crankset for FSA SL-K carbon

Well the Fuji Track has a lot less stuff on it, so 22lb-24lb by time it has saddle bag plus pedals.

Still a good 10lb lighter than the last bike, noticeable as well!

Next up is cut a couple of inches off the stupid long seatpost
build up my light weight wheelset (TBC weight) ditch the tubes but pickup double layer of stans tape and values
replace chain with KMC Super X
may be change the seatpost again for lighter 3T carbon to match the cockpit
change seatpost collar for the ultralight 5g

with all that I could drop 1lb overall, that's one hell of an expensive lb

The madone is A LOT heavier (I'd guess about 20%) with two full large waterbottles.
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

Generally stated weights are without anything inc pedals, mine listed here inc only pedals. the X2 and 198g a pair plus cleats (on me natch)

LOL. True enough, that's not expensive - not even the cost of a Laaaaaandaaaan pint.

I claim Top Trumps. Weighed the trike in at 92Kg with toolkit in the storage box. Add three passengers that can easily rack up 300Kg, add me and that's a rolling mass of fecking near on 380Kg.

Good thing I'm tough as a brick wrapped in barbed wire. :-D
FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits
CAADX 105 beastie for bumpy bits
    Litespeed L3 for Strava bits

My Apollo XC26s BSO is now around 11.75KG.

Quite pleased as the standard spec is meant to be around 15kg so i've shaved around 3kgs off that...its now a respectable weight for a bike like that IMO.

My Raleigh Pro Tour is 10kgs but i don't commute on that.

Trek is now 18.524lb - new seatpost on the way should shave a few more grams

SI units, man. Rule 24 "...are measured in the metric system and as such the English system is forbidden."
I have no idea how much 18.52lb is. The only thing I understand in pounds is the weight of a new born baby. I guess your bike weighs twice as much as a big baby, but that bears no relation to the weight of a bike.

No, silly. The weight of a new born baby is done in bags of sugar! (I was less than two!). Then I discovered chocolate and cheese....

Low birth weight probably coralates to the dodgy northern prenatal diet you were exposed to.
I was going to search for the crap dipping chocolate and awful cheese that northerners love, but I can't remember what they are called, so I failed.

My google-fu is weak, but I'm pissed, so I don't really care.
