  • You could save weight by going for a rim brake up front and the 36g tune front hub...

Aye, but the Extralite's only 95g, add full ceramic bearings, that's 75g, then a rim that's about 120g lighter than the nearest rim brake one!

Again SS, add full ceramic bearings to the Extralite and it's about 155g IIRC, plus it's straight pull spokes, saving a chunk. That and those Tune hubs don't exist in any sensible quantities sadly. There's a thread on his wheels on WW.

Must say Ive seen nowt but bad press for full ceramic bearings in hubs, but as it's clearly just an exercise in mental weight saving then fair play!

Add Furious Freds, Scrub Raceday rotors with 3 ti bolts, Tune Skyline skewers and an alu cassette and you'd save about a pound.

You could always take your bike up a very tall mountain. It would weigh fractionally less then. More so in a plane at high altitude. Or get on a vomet comet and it would be weightless during the freefall parts of the flight. Better still, ask Branson if he'll take your bike up on one of his trips.
