Vert is an older soft rubber though isn't it?

Older than what? I don't follow.

Is the standard vert not their soft rubber that they used before they started using the black chili motorbike rubber? Don't think it's the same compound as the standard mountain king etc, reason being, you don't just instantly crash and die when it rains.

There's an OEM spec Vertical which is really horrible, but fair play, all OEM spec tyres are horrible.

I had a Vertical ages ago, hated it so much I gave it to dad

I much much prefer Nevegals to them, but minions even more (sorry, couldn't resist  )

Disagree with you about all OEM tyres being horrible, I quite like OEM Ignitors, super cheap, long lasting, fast and reasonable grip. Kenda Komodo's aren't bad either (yes, I got some off the hire bikes at the Hub  )

I was just thinking to myself, hey, I stated an opinion on something without Pete instantly disagreeing, hope he's feeling OK

    £50 from merlin.
And its really very good, comfortable, feels top quality and the best thing - the bite valve dont leak!
    how d'you get it for £50? it's £58?

i went in the shop to get one regardless of price. he got one out the back, then said something about the advertised price is fixed which was illegal so he reduced it down to £49.50. result as i was fully willing to pay full price.

I'm replacing my TT on the rear over the winter, it doesn't like wet mud. Great for commuting on though, even though mines the 2.35".

Just bought a RRP Neo guard and some High5 cherry & orange tablets. I was going to get a Mucky Nutz, but would prefer it if they chrged you for postage, rather than stick a "handling charge" on at the checkout.

I only ride when its dry (tart I know) so these *should* be perfect for me - but time will tell... super light as well (lighter than the RRs I think)

  • Just bought some Sealskinz mid-light socks. Got them from the LBS. They seem nice enough, looking forward to giving them a test. I'm glad I didn't go for the thermal ones though, because they are flippin thick.
  • Some Ashima pads for the codes. Not sharing the love for the superstar ones at the moment, so I'm going to try these and see if things improve.

Also just waiting for my return to be acknowledged by Superstar and then I'll be ordering some through-pin nanos in white with blue pins.

Also toying with the idea of going back to using black bars instead of the white ones.

All I'm saying is that it's a second hand hardtail XC bike that will be used in the winter XC series and for commuting.

Got to go over and pick it up in a couple of weeks.

    Good times!

Some Superstar kevlar pads, 2 full sets for £25, not too shabby. I'm hoping they actually stop you when it's cold and wet, unlike their sintered ones.

    And also some :

Not to everyone's taste, but i like 'em!

superstar sintered pads for the elixirs as I noticed last night that the rears have almost gone. Hopefully given the comments above I won't regret that decision.

Kevlars are out of stock. meh.
